Re: 2024 Early Bird Draft Thread
I'm still taking Penix and getting another guy. If you could get Harrison and Penix. Or one of the tackles and Penix. I'm going that route.

Re: 2024 Early Bird Draft Thread
O-line is fixed. Someone picked Penix before our 2nd round pick.
2. Olumuyiwa Fashanu - OT - Penn State 36. Jordan Morgan - OT - Arizona 40. Cooper Beebe - OG - Kansas State 67. Christian Haynes - OG - UConn 96. Michael Pratt - QB - Tulane 98. Junior Colson - LB - Michigan 132. Drake Nugent - OC - Michigan 163. Jaylin Simpson - CB - Auburn 194. Tatum Bethune - LB - Florida State |

We've seen it too many times. I like that Daniels seems to keep getting better and better and better. From where he was at Az State to where he is now is night and day. He had some massive games against SEC teams. |

Re: 2024 Early Bird Draft Thread
everyone battling about williams, daniels or maye
just remember the 2018 draft where two stars where draft and they were draft outside of the top, one star was almost the 2nd round https://www.espn.com/nfl/draft/rounds/_/season/2018 the MEDIA wants us to love the drama of williams daniels and maye but the real brains say like Peters know who is best or best opportunity to succeeded |
Re: 2024 Early Bird Draft Thread
another thing to consider is where this talent ends up, sadly most top prospects ended up on the carousel of NFL habitual dysfunctional teams.
Just think if you came out of plumbers school with all As; teachers loved you did awesome. Your first gig is working at MA & PA Outfitters; they are swamped with jobs don't have enough tools to give you, they don't have a work van for you so you use your bike etc...how successful do you think you will be? A lot of success that Love and Lamar see is that they were drafted by quality franchises. do they have the same success say IDK, here? Probably not IMO Sam would have done better at a quality franchise; one that knew who to grow him not throw him to the wolves. |

I also wouldn’t call any of the power 5 trash. They are the best of the best coming out of highschool. Of the top 10 quarterbacks in the league right now I think maybe 2 are from the SEC. The NFL folks obviously look at mechanics, speed, intelligence, awareness, arm strength. These kids are 21 years old and getting coached up by professionals if they make it to the big show. It doesn’t matter who they played against in college. |

For the record I am leaning towards JD. It is based on draft profile strengths and weaknesses vs Maye and Williams though. Not necessarily his competition. And yes it is a plus column that he played against the SEC. A minor one imo but it doesn’t hurt. |

I will lol so hard if Cousins is re-signed.. Ruhskins will stroke out.

However, I think Kirk is going to be looking to win now, which he should given his age. I also doubt Adam Peters will give him a fully guaranteed contract, which I'm sure he'll be looking for. Peters is getting a QB though, I don't think he came here to take chances on any free agent QB. |

Probably, although I don't think they have anywhere near the talent at WR that Kirk has had in Minnesota. |

Some very good WR where they are picking in the draft though. [Edit] Not that Bill would ever draft a WR in the first or be able to draft a viable one if he did |

They definitely have skill position talent in Atlanta between Drake London, Pitts, and Bijan Robinson, they just need a coach that can bring out the best in them. Really makes Arthur Smith look bad. |

:Flush:
I will trust whatever Peters and Co do. If he is there at 2 there is a very real possibility. The only thing that turns me off is his size, but we have seen plenty of taller quarterbacks fail so …, It is just a refreshing feeling to know Cerrato, Rivera, Snyder, and all the other idiots we have had making decisions are gone. |

Re: 2024 Early Bird Draft Thread
What’s so depressing is that this article, if anything, downplayed the level of urgency for each of these positions.
https://commanderswire.usatoday.com/lists/commanders-roster-needs-positions-2024-offseason-rankings/ To this we’d probably need to add long snapper, kicker, and WR too. It’s astonishing how RR and crew set this roster backwards. When he took over, the roster was better across the board - and in many areas (eg, OL, CB, and LB) significantly so. RR and crew left our cupboard bare. This isn’t going to be a quick turnaround, I’m afraid. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Just finished JD tape. I’m all in. Dynamic athlete, duel threat with a very accurate arm. Arm strength is good enough, it’s not Drake maye level but it’s Caleb level.

Re: 2024 Early Bird Draft Thread
Is it just me or do the opinions about all the top qb's seem to vary wildly? I'm seeing GM's/etc say they love Caleb Williams while others complain that he doesn't love the game/too soft/etc. Same thing with Drake Maye - the physical attributes are great but being compared to Mac Jones is terrible. Same with jayden Daniels. I can't remember the last time all the top qb's had opinions split like this, or maybe I just have a bad memory.

Its the time of year and there are half a dozen teams who would give their left arm for a shot at one of the top three QBs, so as usual you should believe nothing you hear coming from league sources. There hasn't been such a clear cut group of QBs in some time so normally they would not be being hyped so much before we have even had the Senior Bowl. Often, if at all, it is one guy like a Lawrence or a Burrow. Now there are three guys there are always going to be varying opinions. In the end you just have to trust the GM/HC know what they are doing and believe in their own evaluation process. Hopefully we can do that now. |
Re: 2024 Early Bird Draft Thread
There have been a LOT of Total BUST with top QB picks .. I'm not even sure if it's 50/50 . Remember "Someone"thought Lance was the Guy in San Francisco that was a fail .. yea lucky they got Purdy to soften that blow , and to think every team in league passed on Purdy like 7 times before he was chosen last .. that tells me it's all a guessing game just like this coach search ..I actually could see Sam under different system/coaching being as good as some of these can't miss prospects.. you can't throw a rookie to the wolves in this league and expect good results.. One of these Top 3 Qb will fail you can bet on it !
