How do those boom boxes work? Do you have to hook it up to an antenna indoors or something? If I were to break down and get sirius, I would want the plug and play one that I can listen to at work too. Otherwise it's not worth it to me.

I don't have a boombox, but my guess is the antenna would have to be placed where any other antenna normally would (usually near a window or outside). The boombox and compatable receiver are usually seperate purchases, but could be sold as a combo. I have mine in the window at home. At the office, hopefully you are near a window or you may have issues with reception. Sirius does plan to stream Howard online for subscribers as soon as they figure out how to make it available, which would solve some recpetion issues for people.

Whatever unit you get, test it by using the free channel that they beam to every radio. See if it not only gets a good signal, but holds the signal with minimal disruption. Then activate it if everything is fine. If not, take the unit back.

I had the Starmate 1 and it couldn't hold a signal, but I got the Starmate Replay and everything works great.

I heard about Stern possibly becoming available via streaming over the net, I think I'll wait until that becomes a reality.

Here at work, I'm stuck in a damn windowless cube, so I can't use my unit here, so I stream online. At home, I usually stream as well, since I'm too lazy to go back to the car and get the unit. I had to station my antenna outside in order to get a decent reception, because of the way my condo faces.

I believe they are trying to build a dedicated stream just for Howard 100 and 101, because their current system probably isn't capable of the volume necessary to accomodiate all the new subscribers.

They have an email alert you can sign up for to let you know when Howard will be streaming and when I called the Sirius customer service number, one of the first things the voice tells you is that they are working on getting Howard to stream online. So obviously, they have received plent of calls demanding this.

I have the boom box. It's ok, no problems. The hardwire antennae thing sucks. I was told that a wireless antennae existed for the units. However, I have been unable to locate one. i think I was bamboozled? Any info on the wireless?

yeah, Bubba the Love Sponge mentioned that they got a huge number phone calls on Monday, and 1 million unique hits to the website, most complaining that they could not stream Howard...

not heard about the wireless antenna...this is all i found:

that would be nice though...or even a wireless antenna for the car.
