i agree about jackson's drills but he is young and has superior physical abilities. i also agree about hagan and stovall, was not impressed at all yesterday. I think you are giving Patten too much credit but he did get injured so it is possible his production will increase.

not really, i ran the numbers... he's getting some side benefit in them (brunell got worse down the stretch beyond missing his #2).

games with patten averaged 80 more passing yards than games without him (he has 30/game, moss had 30more/game and RBs/other WRs made up most of the rest). Once Patten went down other WRs (not patten/moss) averaged 0.5catches a game vs 3/game beforehand.

Re: #2 WR Position

I wasn't implying Patten is bad. I think he is our second best WR. However, I also think we would be greatly served in getting a guy who is more of a quality stand-alone receiver, rather than a good decoy. Moulds is good but probably too costly.

no debate there. I just don't see any great stand alones this year that won't be overpriced :/ Bryant may actually be the best available talent/age wise, but I've definately still got questions about him.

moulds said he was willing to take a paycut, i think they're both going to try hard to keep him on the bills roster.

Patten not even just a decoy when someone throws him the ball! *cough* Brunell *cough*

Re: #2 WR Position
I really don't think he's going to command #1 receiver type of money. We ARE looking for a quality #2, not a #1 and I think he could fill a number of roles nicely. PR, backup QB and WR would be great.
He is going to be a target by quite a few teams. It will come down to a bidding war and hopefully we wont get caught up in that. I just dont see us paying the money for a guy who had a subject year at best from a WR stand point.

Re: #2 WR Position

from what ive heard bryant isn't a locker room guy and is looking for #1 money. he's inconsistent and not worth the hassle. i heard originally moulds was willing to take a cut but have heard to the contrary in the past week. i hope campbell steps up cause brunell is cough, cough, awful.

Re: #2 WR Position

lets get david patten healthy.then you can use guys like a brown and j farris around our 2 starters.sign a rookie to take jacobs spot.he has done nothing but steal the redskins money.cant catch and injury prone.i think i posted this before in another thread?!..

Re: #2 WR Position

i dont think standing pat and hoping no one gets hurts and a brown steps up is a great game plan.

hey i loved patten i jst dnt think we had the right guy throwing to him we had a great guy back there in the pocket but not for patten for some reason these two never clicked(brunnell & patten) i rememeber for a fact reading in the post that patten wants the ball more. of course every receiver bitches about getting the ball but hey GIVE HIM THE BALL lets see wat he has......as for brown hes in the nfl europe right? With al saunders coaching:coach: we should be arite. i think it should go like this

#1 MOSS
#2 PATTEN
#3 draft pick
#4 jacobs(we need him for depth)
#5 thrash

as for farris and and brown if we have any major injuries step them in to play

#1 Moss
#2 ERIC MOULDS
#3 Patten
#4 draft pick
#5 thrash
#6 jacobs

I would like us to pick up a nice vet at WR, to go along with a draft pick. Moulds might be way to expensive though.

Re: #2 WR Position

With Moss, Patten, and Cooley we have a good receiving threat. Now, add in the fact that Saunders will find a way to pass the ball to Portis more and I kind of wonder if we need a FA receiver at all. Maybe we should be going after a good number three who could grow into a number 2 through the draft.

The draft is weak at WR and we pick 53 overall. who do you see us getting there or later?
