Re: Wynn cut (maybe)
true. i think hes deluding himself into thinking someone will offer him that. he might want to try and show some team spirit and stay. as gw says, EVERYONE is a starter in certain packages.

Re: Wynn cut (maybe)
Wynn is a monster run stuffer, they need to keep him and play him on 1st and 2nd downs so we can keep a pass rushing DE kami-kaze fresh!
|
Re: Wynn cut (maybe)
Williams is always rotating players. Don't be surprised if we keep Wynn, assuming he comes back fully healthy, and Carter comes in on 2nd/3rd down a lot.

Re: Wynn cut (maybe)
i agree, evans wants to start though and i cant see him displacing daniels.
According to the ESPN the book on Evans is that too many snaps wears him down. That doesn't sound like a starter. |
Re: Wynn cut (maybe)
wynn is 295lbs, if he was going to be cut, it would have happened already.
They like him in the lockerroom and he's a good DT, my guess is he becomes our #2 and joe S goes back to the bench, or they rotate. |
Re: Wynn cut (maybe)
He's a decent contributor and I think we need Wynn's leadership in the locker room with so many new free agents............
P.S. he's from notre dame.....my fav college team too........... :course this has nothing to do with my sentiments towards the guy  |
Re: Wynn cut (maybe)
I think they's cut Patten before Wynn. You can never have enough defensive line depth. Wynn like Daniels can also play inside. GW is going to have a alot of versitile players this season, something he loves. He is known as one of the leaders is in this lockeroom Gibbs respects that.
Patten on the other hand has two strikes against him. One, he cannot play special teams...McCants couldn't or wouldn't...where did that get him as the 4th reciever...out the door. Two, Gibbs has always had a low tolerace for guys who stir things up in the Press. Could the fact that he gets paid way too much to be a 4th reciever be strike three...we'll see soon enough. |

agreed, lets not forget... patten is still a good receiver. I would have been appeased w/ a receiving corps of just Lloyd, Moss, Patten... etc. Would I rather have randel el... of course, I just didn't think it was going to happen. I think right now our focus should be depth at CB, LB, OL, DL... thats pretty much accepted by everyone I think. Lets not have another instance of sub-par CB's not being able to fill in for an injured Springs. That got a little ridiculous. |
Re: Wynn cut (maybe)
We need quality depth. We are fine with the Cap. Absolutly no reason to cut one of the leaders of the team.
|
Re: Wynn cut (maybe)
Saw it comming...he was overpaid anyway. Anyone know if cutting him will hurt our cap.
|
Re: Wynn cut (maybe)
it'd only save 400k, he's not getting cut.
he's now a DT/DE tweener that'll spend a lot of time inside. |
Re: Wynn cut (maybe)
We have to retain Wynn or Evans.
|
Re: Wynn cut (maybe)
As per the Times report today, if we do release him, it will be after June 1. We'll see...
(See the Times article in another thread... sorry no linky!) |

(See the Times article in another thread... sorry no linky!)
the times article is wrong on that though. in the new cba, you can realease 2 players AT ANY TIME in the offseason and count them as old june 1st cuts as far as spreading the cap hit... that way teams get their savings and the players get on the market sooner. |
