Re: Parcells and T.O

Bledsoe could have TO, Holt, Harrison and Moss as his receivers but once he sees Philip Daniels coming at him (again), he'll spontaneously self-combust.
I remember reading from a couple of sources, SI.com among them, that Parcells never attends press conferences for Free Agent signees. That's not to say that the "sources" quoted are not correct, it just means you can't make any assumptions on his not showing up at the presser.
Your are absolutely correct. Ever since Parcells took the helm in Dallas he has never ever been present for any free agent signings or press conferences. He has never made any public comment on any free agent signing. So when he does the same thing this season, reporters see it as a negative thing.

In fact every off-season since returning to coaching, Parcells stays at his home in Florida until just before the draft. One thing most folks do not realize is that Parcells has total control of his coaching staff and scouts. He asked long-time scouting director Larry Lacewell to retire and then Parcells brought in his own scouting staff, whom he trusts without question. THe results have been favorable when you look at how well the drafting has gone since Dave Campo got canned.

Before he leaves for Florida after the end of the season, Parcells, his staff and Jones decide which free agents to target for free agency, and his scouting staff gets busy with the draft as well. Then Parcells heads off to Florida leaving Jerry Jones to do the dirty work of signing those targeted FA's.

I find it difficult to believe that ANY owner would pursue a player without speaking with the head coach first.

True. I still don't see them co-existing. AND with all these new rules, I would be expecting TO to get quite a few penalties.
trouble in paradise?if dallas doesnt fix their offensive line,i dont care if you bring back jerry rice in his hay-day,drew(the human statue)bledsoe will not finish the season.by the way,who is dallas back up?is it still drew hensen?
Technically the backup is Tony Romo. But when McNabb got hurt for Phili, they went with McMahon over Detmer, and Detmer was listed as their backup. So if Drew gets hurt, you might see Henson.

Gary Myers, of the New York Daily News, reports Dallas Cowboys head coach Bill Parcells was not in agreement with owner Jerry Jones about signing WR Terrell Owens, according to sources. Parcells was absent from the annual NFC coaches breakfast Wednesday, March 29, at the NFL spring meetings in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
A similar report was on PTI and Jim Rome yesterday. I am not saying Jim Rome is credible, but it was on his show.

Re: Parcells and T.O

Whether he did or didn't want him, they're bound to clash sometime during the season. Again, Dallas is NOT on the cusp of winning the Super Bowl, hence the reason I don't think TO will do anything for them. They need a running game, they need offensive line help and they need secondary help.

Sandtrapjack beat me to the punch don't read to much to this speculations the media leaves from confilct it's just like all the reports before FA every year that says tah tyour team is in CAP hell and wil lneed to dump every player on the roster and every year nothing happens on contraire you're agressive in FA.

And with the line I believe we have upgrade even thought Larry has been a fundation for our team he has been slipping the past years and it's good to star getting new I just hope our FA pickups produce that's it.

Re: Parcells and T.O

As I'm sure you do. And I'm saying this completely objectively, McNabb is a far superior quarterback to Bledsoe and had a running game (at the time) to fall back on. This is why I'm not worried about the TO addition.

Now I'm basing this purely on opinion, but other than Witten, Dallas really doesn't have any other weapon. I know people want to say Glenn, but no one FEARS him or really is worried about HAVING to put their #1 corner on him.

Re: Parcells and T.O

McNabb yes is better Quarterback than Bledsoe we all know that but thatbdoesn't say Bledsoe is a bad QB we also being completely objective Bledsoe is far better QB than Mark Brunnell especially with protection, Now J.Jones and Barber are way better than Wedsbrook, and Glenn had an excellent year and that with KJ next to him and one of the worst olines and without jones for half the year, and we can agree that in pure talent and performance TO is an upgrade from KJ.

I believe we will have a more explosive offense this year as I also predict yours 2 because you wil have far to manny options for teams 2 cover.

TheMalcolmConnection 03-30-2006 01:38 PM

Re: Parcells and T.O

Actually statwise and performance-wise Brunell was slightly better than Bledsoe, which actually was pretty damn good considering the type of running game we had. The Cowboys, with no running game to speak of, were forced to pass early and often hence padding Drew's stats while still not topping Brunell's.

Jones and Barber are better than Westbrook!? Please. Yes, your offense will be more explosive, but only marginally because the pieces aren't really in place for the REST of the offense.

if i'm dallas, i'd be worried about the sluggish secondary. one somewhat fast corner that's over 30, and a bunch of slow dbs vs redskins 4 fast WRs and fast RB = a bad matchup.

Re: Parcells and T.O

Lots of wishful thinking here.

1.) Dallas has a better O line this year. we all saw Daniels get 28 sacks against our CFL linemen last year. It could not have been worse. Really, that line wasn't as good as the Longhorns line -or the BC eagles!

I luv Larry Allen, but he can' t play four quarters anymore. We had our Centre pulling cause Allen could no longer get there.

2.) Newman isn't panning out? WHAT? Teams don't even throw his way.

3.) TO and Parcells. TO in the first year is always an angel. He got his money, and he has never played for a guy with two rings and a bust waiting for him in Canton. Gibbs would've handled TO also, and don't think they weren't interested in signing him.

TO opens the field for the running game. No more 8 man fronts every down.
McNabb is better than Bledsoe but Bledsoe is on a team that actually uses the running back out of the backfield!! Philly throws wayyyyy too much.
Signing TO and Fabiani makes Dallas the front runner in the East this year.

talk about wishful thinking... where are you getting the rest of your oline and how are your dbs going to keep up with the skins WRs? line up 20 yards deep and see if we can complete uncontested slants and use open running lanes?
