Re: 2006 Draft - Reed Doughty (FS) - extensive profile
And the pick is DT Kedric Golston from GA
|
Re: 2006 Draft - Reed Doughty (FS) - extensive profile
Wow. another DT. I would have thought DE would be more of a priority.
NO offensive players selected yet? |
Re: 2006 Draft - Reed Doughty (FS) - extensive profile
he racked up production stats against I-AA players. the production is still there, but you gotta consider the competition wasn't always amazing.
You could have said the same thing about Randy Moss. After the men's basketball playoffs, I'm thinking there are a few gems in 1-AA footballers. |

No, Marshall is still Division I-A. I'm not sure the basketball comparison works, either. |

moss was absolutely prolific though and marshall is I-A, and he's 6"4". |
Re: 2006 Draft - Reed Doughty (FS) - extensive profile
Smart guy with size and up side. Great special teams player. They say his strength is defending the run. If so, sounds like he might develop into a guy that could back up both FS and SS positions. That is a huge plus.
Give this guys a year and 10-15 more pounds of muscle and he will a great 6th round value pick. In the mean time he will be a great special teams player.
Backup Sean Taylor? HA! The dude is smart not fast. He would be a liability in deep coverage against your Terry Glenns and Sinorice Mosses. |

sean taylor only runs a 4.5 |

4.5 is pretty good for a safety, especially when that safety is 230 lbs.+. Moreover, his instincts make him a lot "faster" than his 40 time suggest. |

i agree, and 4.5 at 230lbs is great, but in a foot race, a guy like steve smith, santana etc blow by him. |

doughty sounds like a smart player who will be a gibbs and gw guy-- seems very coachable.

Re: 2006 Draft - Reed Doughty (FS) - extensive profile
What we needed is a guy to be a backup safety from now through the next ten years. It's the kind of stuff late picks are around for. Looks like we filled a need.

Marshall moved to 1A in 97 Moss was drafted in 98. He only played one year div 1 |
