Re: 2006 Draft - Kendric Golston (DT) - extensive profile
Here's why I feel better about late rounders nowadays. We've got a kickass coaching staff, one that knows how to improve young players and to motivate. Maybe we won't find a gem here (it's a crapshot, no matter what Mel Kiper says on TV...), but if he's there, our coaches will find a way to get them to play above his potential.
I have no doubts about the DL or McIntosh. I'd be plesantly surprised if Doughty makes the squad.

Given his play on specials, he has a good chance, but I generally agree with you here. |
I agree...I am COMPLETELY shocked that we are selecting DTs with Dee Webb and Fred Matua sitting there at the end of the 6th round! I suppose this is why no one has offered me a GM job just yet...
I think they went into the draft with the idea to shore up the DT position in the late rounds. If you use late picks to fill needs, you can't do it with one pick. Having Golston and Montgomery on the roster solidifies our Dline situation for a long time. I have a feeling only one of the above will be on the active roster at a time, tho.

His play making is what got the Redskins eye. Greg Blache has been all world with our D line. He like both DT taken so they must have something.
