you value price to production, and for their current production saying we overpaid is fairly valid. we had the space, we got the guys we wanted, but at that price point it WILL limit us more down the road. That's part of why we lead in deadcap, which is a definite competitive disadvantage, but only when other teams are able to load up near the cap limit with better value contracts, otherwise it's a bit moot.

I don't see hwo they can say we haven't improved though.

we have a 5th starter (wynn) on the DL, and besides arrington and ramsey, we have lots of upgrades. OC, DC-DBs, SS, WR #2/#3/#4/#5, TE #2, CB #3, DE #1/#2/#3/#4, DT #3/#4, KR/PR #1, coverage teams.

QB is still a question, OLB is a concern, and our OL depth has no proven starter, BUT at least this year our strong safety won't get bitched by alstott or LT trying to make a game saving tackle.

I still think our strategy allows us to spend more on paper but really get the same value to price. We can simply spend more dollars as long as the players acquired are young and productive. We do less with a dollar than other teams who contract diffrently but it allows us to have more dollars in a sense making it mostly a wash.

Am I the only one who remembers when Gibbs first time around coaching our special teams would every now and again run reverses and latterals on kick return and punt return? We have not seen that yet on special teams. With the addition of ARE and with Moss having ST experience does anyone else think that now Gibbs may have guys that he will trust to do things like that?

unless they use as much cap space as us that's filled with better value per dollar it is a wash. danny spends, and while the eagles are fairly close in talent and way better in price/performance, they have 20-30mill left unspent each year. if they don't use that space, we can just waste deadcap and spend more on crap value contracts and end up even on the field.

the eagles' money is more evenly spread among their players, ours is extremely loaded towards starters (except for wynn and, in a lesser sense, collins). you can only put as much talent on the field as you can fit into those 22 starting players though, and better talent there gets exceeding expensive pretty quickly.

when accessing the redskins,what does it matter who got what money?mr snyder will take care of paying these guys.if they fit a need for the team,then they are the right move,regardless of what they make.all the free agents picked up will start somewhere,so i say we did pretty will in our additions

Everyone is. It's not anything new. They think that TO is going to put them over the top. Apparently he couldn't do that for a way-better-than-the-Cowboys Eagles team, so why do think they he can do it for them?

Where else did they improve? I think their line on both sides of the ball is going to be worse...And they got rid of Glover.

You know what, I'm happy no one's picking the Skins to win the division. I don't want them to jinx us.

In this division, regardless of what happens, at least two teams, mayeb three, will be suprised if they don't make the playoffs. It's a real crap shoot.

You know that's what I was thinking. Getting Archuleta should take care of the big running plays that the defense was allowing last season. That's probably gibbs's intention anyway. Those big runs really hurt last season and might have been the weakest part of the defense.

When the middle of our d-line was banged up that's when teams were finding success on the ground against us.

Having a healthy Griffin and Salave'a in the middle makes all the difference in the world.

Let all of these media people have their say. Let them doubt Gibbs and Co. It will make it all that much sweeter when the games start.

I dont see the Cowboy's...maybe I'm blind. The Giants are our biggest competition. The Eagles could bounce back. The Cowboys will finish in the basement of this division IMO.

Also the Line don't get me wrong Gliver is 1 of the best players to use the Cowbosy uniform but his a 1 gap tackle not a NT he ddin't fit with the 3-4 system so he had to be let go we've got ferguson there and also M. Stanley our draft pick to be his backup and with Canty, Spears in their second year and allready showed great potential and to that you add Ellis and Hatcher as a more nickle treath the line looks great

and the LB corps you have Ware, B.James, FA adquisition Ayodele and 1st round pick Carpenter really you can't say they didn't improve.

You can argew wich team may b better but you can't argew that DBoiz have improved this offseason in an allready good team.

Like I can't arguew that the adquisition of Sauders, Lloyd and Randall won't make your offense better

I will agree that you guys had a good draft, and your LB corps should be improved. My only caution is that when you rely on a rookie for immediate impact - and Carpenter really does need to be that guy for you guys - you take a big chance. Most rookies don't get a chance to impact the game in their first year - even in a more instictual position like LB. If Carpenter isn't the impact guy you expect, it will adversely affect the whole defense (one of the curses of the 3-4 is that it requires that LB group to shine, or everyone around them suffers.)

Can we at least agree that the Eagles are in for a long year?
