Re: Expansion team in LA=rearranged divisions
There are certain rivalries that the NFL can't afford to break up. Oakland-KC rivals Dallas-Washington, and Chicago-Green Bay in tradition. So Oakland, KC, and Denver will be in that division for all eternity. An LA team could play in the South, or in the West as SD moves to the South. Of course, I think it will ultimately be the Chargers that move to LA. Your Saints realignment is very plausible.
I completely agree that many of the league would want to keep as many of the old rivalries as possible. I just couldn't see a relocated Bills team (for example) having to play 3 divisional games on the otherside of the country every year. |
Re: Expansion team in LA=rearranged divisions
I think folks in LA like soccer more than football due to the heavy latin-american influcence. They should focus on cheering on the LA Galaxy and the Chivas USA team.
Now, putting a team in Vegas. That I like! |

Why not? That's what Atlanta did for years - It was in the NFC West and played SF, LA Rams, NO (granted, not quite the same). Don't get me wrong, I think it would be stupid, but the NFL may not realign at all - just move the team and make'em play in the same division. Other than Buffalo, the other candiates wouldn't be too screwed. |
