I'm going over there to teach English essentially. It's a program that was started by the Japanese government in the 1980's to introduce Japanese youth to people from other cultures, since Japan has historically been such a closed society. So I kind of function as an ambassador for the US, as well as assisting the English program at whatever high school I'm stationed at.

Wow. our very own djnemo, U.S. Ambassador to Japan. That is awesome.

Have you taught English in other countries as well?

do you know japanese? I had a friend who did that (japan nut to begin with) that's decided to stay there.
