They dropped State from the name back in 2001 in order to gain some more respect or some such BS. Apparently they didn't like the fact that the name sounded so much like salisbury steak.

I can proudly say that I graduated from Salisbury State...as my grad. class was the last to have Salisbury State on their diplomas.

The school is trying to get a private school feel, to bring more money into the fold.
