Re: What is our offensive identity?
Pretty basic football right there... exactly what we need.
exactly what we had. before Saunders and his playbible. |
Re: What is our offensive identity?
What are you basing that on? He's afraid to embrace the system? Give some proof
I am unsure of what kind of proof you are looking for, but how about Brunell actually admitted he was just wanting the game to be over in week one, obviously implying he was not ready. Anyone that afraid to play a game can't be getting it...week 1 or not. Also, this offense looks nothing like an Al Saunders ran offense, so either Gibbs is still running the show, or Brunell is not getting it. I love it when the camera's pan back and you can see the entire field, when that happens, everyone please look at the open receivers. There are always guys open. Someone here said "how is it possible we have Moss, ARE, Lloyd, and Cooley and none of them are creating separation?" Ask yourself that question and the answer is obvious, it's not them, it's Brunell. How many times did Brunell get protection time and he looked indecisive? If Saunders would step up to the mic. he'd tell us his system is not being run properly...it won't work if Brunell is afraid. Brunell has made his mark on this world by being a guy that doesn't make mistakes. A guy that probably won't win you a game, but won't lose you a game. Saunders has an offense that the QB needs to win you games. Brunell doesn't have that in him. |
Re: What is our offensive identity?
Let's just remember that when Todd Collins came to the team he said this offense would take a year to fully digest.
A full year. |
Let's just remember that when Todd Collins came to the team he said this offense would take a year to fully digest.
A full year.
The problem with that is that is that it seems like this team was built for short term success. We have all these big contracts out there that are backloaded, meaning that many of our big FA signings probably won't be around too long before they either need to be restructured or cut. I guess that begs the question, did we try to do too much by bringing in Saunders? |

More harping on the offense...
WHAT IS OUR DEFENSIVE IDENTITY??? |

A full year.
yes, EXACTLY, any offense takes time to master. thats why we should wait till Brunell is 37. |

WHAT IS OUR DEFENSIVE IDENTITY???
same as always but with sub-par talent. that's all. |

thats why we should wait till Brunell is 37.
Oh yeah, that was the other point I meant to make before. If this system was expected to take so long to get than we should have let Campbell lead it from the beginning. Then again, that thought is made in hindsight, because we all thought we were going to the Super Bowl this season. |

Then again, that thought is made in hindsight, because we all thought we were going to the Super Bowl this season.
that thought wasn't in hindsight for everybody. a ton of us here begged for Campbell to get more practice time during the preseason. not that we didn't appreciate Brunell last season, but with a whole new offense coming in this offseason, many of us questioned the benefit of investing time trying to teach Brunell new tricks. |

WHAT IS OUR DEFENSIVE IDENTITY???
We have none. We have yet to develope an identity on either side of the ball. Sad but true. I think we all overrated our defense because we have become accustomed to having a strong d. Talent wise, I just don't think we have it. I over rated Archuleta personally cause I have yet to see him make a difference. Springs looked horrible, but I'll give him a couple games to return to form. Rogers is not what he should be at this point. Even though Carter has been our only pressure on the qb, he is a disappointment. So basically, the only 3 people I see actually performing well this season is, Taylor, Washington, and Griffin. Williams has had the same system in place for a while, so what's our excuse for horrible d? We can't say it's because Springs was out. Man, it makes me miss Smoot. |

WHAT IS OUR DEFENSIVE IDENTITY???
I think there's more discussion involving the offense because most people here believe it's the least difficult phase to fix. The tools are there to make things better. For the defense? Not so much. |
Re: What is our offensive identity?
Brunell can't or doesn't want to throw anything past 10 yards.
