Re: Redskins Pending Free Agents
Matty, this is the kind of thing that would go nice in a Salary Cap / Personnel forum. Wink wink, nudge nudge.
Here are the 'Skins pending free agents: Derrick Dockery Ethan Albright Ladell Betts TJ Duckett Ade Jimoh Derrick Frost Kenny Wright Warrick Holdman Jeff Posey Tyson Walter Mike Pucillo Vernon Fox Todd Wade Todd Yoder Jim Molinaro Ryan Boschetti Some interesting decisions on this list: Derrick Frost has punted alright, 42.3 yards per punt, 36.3 net of the return which is about middle of the NFL pack. Ethan Albright is a rock solid long snapper. Will GW let Holdman go and let Rocky play? Is Kenny Wright a goner? Will Ade be kept for teams? But most importantly, will the Redskins actively pursue Dockery to remain the starter at LG? He hasn't played well lately. And will Betts be back?
Derrick Dockery let him go Ethan Albright keep big red Ladell Betts toss up between him and TJ... I'd lean towards TJ TJ Duckett Keep if we cant afford Betts, or we need a short yardage guy... he really is one of the best in the business. Ade Jimoh only if he's incredibly cheap. he cant cover, he's just a teamer Derrick Frost keep. the kid is actually not bad Kenny Wright BYE Warrick Holdman BYE Jeff Posey keep if cheap Tyson Walter WHO? Mike Pucillo ditto? Vernon Fox keep for teams if cheap Todd Wade gone Todd Yoder gone Jim Molinaro keep if we need the depth... dont see too much of him, though Ryan Boschetti done |
I thought Ethan Albright had resigned a while back.
he signs one year deals every year. that way he only counts 425k against the cap, instead of 850k (810k salary + 40k signing bonus). |
Re: Redskins Pending Free Agents
We have to keep Dockery. If we let him go, then we either have to overpay for a free agent, or use our 1st round pick on an o-lineman. Keep him. And we already cut Tyson Walter.

Re: Redskins Pending Free Agents
Letting Dockery go is beyond stupid. One could argue he's been the best guard on our football team this year. Certainly playing better than Jansen. He's making progress, we always hear about draft young players and develop them. So how about we let someone develop here. As I've said before, he's made tangible progress every single year.
If we could field 11 ethan albrights on every play, I'd be a happy man. |

Dock has been disappointing this year after a decent year last season. Did you see how many Eagles came through the middle of our line in pass protection? He wasn't squeezing down to pick up blitzers. And if you go back and look at the Portis goalline snafu against the Cowboys, you'll see Dock is the one getting stoned on his blocks. I'm not sure what to do with him; all depends on the $ he commands, I guess. |
Re: Redskins Pending Free Agents
Dockery is the biggest concern next year. Skins should resign this guy. They've groomed him into a nice nfl starter he has a good combo of size and agility and seems to work well with Samuels.
I think the team is going to have a tough time signing him. He came into this season in great shape, something that's been a knock on him since he was drafted. So he's going to be looking for a substaintal contract. And we all know the skins aren't very aggressive at signing their own FAs. Holdman and Wright are toast. Molinaro's not progressing, but if he's cheap, the skins have to resign him for OL depth. Frost, who cares, he's nothing special, there's an army of guys who can replace him. |

He should be pummeling defenders. I think he plays like he is 300. I definitely think that they could let him go and not suffer a huge drop-off. |
Re: Redskins Pending Free Agents
wright has been playing better than rogers, so he may be back (if another team doesn't sign him). dockery isn't going to get a huge deal, cause he's really not very good.
|
Re: Redskins Pending Free Agents
I guess we should cut all the young talent the skins have tried to nurture and sign and trade for over-priced geezers to replace them.
Wright playing better than Rogers is debatable. Besides Wright is recycled garbage who at his best is an average nickle-back. Cut Rogers and Dockery some slack they have a combined 4 years of experience and their best years are ahead of them. |
Re: Redskins Pending Free Agents
Depending on who's out there for LG I could easily see us letting Dockery go. Rabach is nothing special either, both guys get manhandled against physical d-lineman (think Dallas).
Dock's pass protection is nothing special either. I was holding out hope for him but now I doubt he's going to develop into anything more than a serviceable starter in this league. |
Re: Redskins Pending Free Agents
when is chris samuels a free agent again?

He resigned two years ago (?). I think he's got 5 more years (basically until he retires or we release him). |

Buges supposedly loves the guy, but he's had an up and down year. Did anyone see him get stood up by Bradie James down at the goalline on our first drive against the Cowboys 2 weeks ago? |

I talked with Ethan's brother today at lunch. I asked him how Ethan was doing and whether if he knew Ethan was coming back next year or not. He said Ethan's doing well, then laughed and said that at this point in his career he basically just waits to get a phone call on whether he's supposed to report for work or not. He told me he was going to a game in December and would try to hook me up with some stuff. I should have asked him to hook me up with some tickets. :D |
Re: Redskins Pending Free Agents
We should really try our best to keep the same five guys on the line, it will do wonders for our Al saunders offense next season, even if it involves slightly overpaying for Dock. He's Big enough and quick enough to develop into a better player, and he's a great guy.
