Yeah big 311 fan here too, just saw them over the summer.
You can't go wrong with any Deftones CD, I'm really digging the new one. They can be a tough listen at first though, it took me a while to get hooked on them.
It's sad cause they've seem to have gotten all over-produced on their latest stuff... It's kinda cheesy. Grassroots still makes its way into my regular rotation however. Did you go to the show in Nissan? It was the first time I just mellowed out in the lawn, I'm usually down in the pits... I started to regret that decision, untill they started a pit up in the lawn..... Very fun. It's was the best show I've seen them put on in at least 4 years. |

That's what people say about liver and onions. |

I feel this way about all music. If I listen enough, I usually begin to like it. Once I figured this out, listening to music became much more rewarding. There's even part of me that feels if I like it immediately, then it won't be long before it gets old. |
Re: The Deftones...
The DEFTONES are my FAVORITE Band!!! Saw them in Myrtle Beach a few weeks back. They still ROCK harder than anyone out there. I knew I liked Matty for a reason.
I have seen the TONES live over 10 times. |

Shame on you Matty, They were just in D.C. the other night!! Deftones are a band that is great on record but seeing them live is amazing!! If you are interested, go to moock flash player inspector :: v1.3.5 and search the message boards. There is a recording of the concert they just performed at the 9:30 club in D.C. floating around. Not sure of the quality of the recording though. |
Re: The Deftones...
Unfortunately they're not coming anywhere near the upstate NY area on the current tour
|
Re: The Deftones...
Dude I should have looked at your location. I assumed you were in the D.C. area. My bad. Good to know you are both a Tones fan and a Skins fan!! New respect for you in my book brother. Thanks for all the effort on the site by the way.

Re: The Deftones...
Hey Matty, you will be happy to know they are not only a great band but also one of the coolest to meet and hang out with. I had the pleasure of doing a show with them back when I was still playing in my old band Punishment. I think it was right before their 2nd album release. Great guys to hang out with, really laid back. And for those of you who were into thrash metal and hardcore punk, we also did shows with Kreator, DRI, At War and a few others I cant think of at the moment. I worked security at the Peppermint Beach Club in Va. Beach back in the mid ninetys and met tons of bands, Pantera was my favorite. They played there 4-5 times, 100 mph on stage and off, total blast! Its a shame about Dimebag, as a matter of fact I think today is the 2 yr anniversary of his murder. Anyway the list is long on bands Ive met and hung out with, but the Deftones are up at the top as far as great show and good people.

That's cool to hear. Pantera back in the day... man those guys just tore it up! I remember hearing Mouth for War for the first time and it just rocked my skull. I was hooked from that moment. |
