Re: Another poor play calling game by Gibbs
maybe so, but if he hadn't put in duckett, then u would be complaining about how 'duckett wasn't used properly'. i know that is what would of happened, don't even say that you wouldn't say that.
oh god. not a chance in hell... i have never in my life said anything positive about t.j. duckett. |
Re: Another poor play calling game by Gibbs
Was it just me or did we seem lose our "nastyness" when we got down into the redzone, today?
|
Re: Another poor play calling game by Gibbs
play calling was pretty bad. It wasn't the only reason we lost, but there's no doubt in my mind that if it had been better we would've won.

Re: Another poor play calling game by Gibbs
Play calling didn't lose the game. The game was managed well. Our defense (that had only been on the field for a total of 20 minutes and was well-rested) lost the game for us. They give up no first downs or only one first down and we have 2-3 minutes to kick a game-winning FG. The earlier FG is a toss-up on whether you kick it or go for it. The one at the end of the game was a good call, there was 5 mins left on the clock.

Re: Another poor play calling game by Gibbs
Play calling had very little to do with the game today. I don't like all the play action passes against a blitzing defense but for the most part it was good. The difference in the game was the two TO's. Two TO's = 14 points for the Eagles. Plain and simple.

Re: Another poor play calling game by Gibbs
I don't think Gibbs is calling plays. Last I heard, it's still Al Saunders. But what the hell, let's blame Gibbs....
Stoooopid. Dallas Sucks. Go Saints. |
Re: Another poor play calling game by Gibbs
It's hard to win when you spot a team 14 easy points off turnovers.

Re: Another poor play calling game by Gibbs
Yea Saunders is calling the plays. That is the usual job of the offensive coordinator. I think the only questionable play call was the slant to Cooley on 3rd and 9 that got picked off. It was a bad play for that situation. The playcalling was good and particularly balanced which is Saunders theme. 205 passing and 210 rushing is solid. The simple reson for the loss is 2 INT's that resulted in 14 points.

JC shouldn't have forced that throw, but that's life with an inexperienced QB. |
Re: Another poor play calling game by Gibbs
We were inside the 5 with a chance to take the lead, and could not get it done. TOO MANY MEN IN THE HUDDLE? WTF?
We've shown we can run the ball, and move it to the 20 with efficiency. Our red zone play has been weak all year, and today was no exception. THere's a place where I lay it all on Gibbs and Saunders--their red zone paly book has not been sharp all year, to say the least. But how can you get a 12 men in the huddle penalty? We took lots of bad penalties today. TOs hurt, no doubt, as well. THe bright side: it's on us. We can fix these things. If a team can get 400+ yards of offense, they have the ability to score points. And if they get their heads out of their asses at crucial moments, we won't be moving backward because of mental mistakes. FInally, how many INTs have we dropped this year? Christ, if they kept that stat, we'd have the record, no doubt. |

and call me crazy, but I don't think Gibbs called the "throw a pick for a touchdown" play. Looked like he called a quick slant on that side. |

He didn't even call that. Saunders is the play caller. Take away those two INTs and the Redskins would've won easily today. |
