Re: Archuleta traded to Bears for 6th round pick
I think the main selling point for the Redskins was ridding themselves of Archulettas contract.
Hopefully we can use the cap space to re-sign Chris Cooley next year. |
Re: Archuleta traded to Bears for 6th round pick
Thats basically a 7th rounder. I always liked him. I think we should have more.

Re: Archuleta traded to Bears for 6th round pick
Seriously! You guys think we could have gotten a THIRD!?!? The writing was on the wall that despite what Gibbs says, Arch was gone. Why would they part ways with a 3rd if he was probaboly just gonna get axed anyways.
I'm with you here. A 3rd rounder?! LOL No way. |
Re: Archuleta traded to Bears for 6th round pick
I still think he was the infamous leak from last season.
I agree. That's one reason why I'm glad to see him go. |
Re: Archuleta traded to Bears for 6th round pick
I feel bad for all 12 people that bought his jersey.
I'm glad he's gone before he had a chance to be a distraction. Hopefully we don't have to eat too much of his contract, if any at all. |

Re: Archuleta traded to Bears for 6th round pick
OK, the Archuleta trade lowers our available cap room by 6.72 million for 2007.
However, our cap numbers are lowered in the remaining years of the deal by the following amounts: 2008-3.8 million 2009-5.8 million 2010-7.8 million 2011-7.8 million 2012-5.8 million Total saved: 33.28 million Total cost of release: 9 million Net savings: 24.28 million Archuleta made 10.5 million from us total over his time here, 1/3 of the total value of the contract. |
Re: Archuleta traded to Bears for 6th round pick
The biggest thing here is that, according to ESPN we got rid of his contract. I dont know what that shakes out too cap wise, but i'm pretty sure (again could be wrong), that we take his hit this season and free up some cap room next season. With Cooley being a free agent at seasons end, thats a HUGE PLUS.

How much cap room do we have now?

Re: Archuleta traded to Bears for 6th round pick
So how much did it cost the Redskins to trade him? Yes we get a 6th pick that is a very low one but what did we have to pay?

We gain cap room in all future seasons. |
