Re: Thanks Skins
For anyone at the game it had a weird vibe, for obvious reasons. The video tribute was really awesome. They did a great job putting it together and the emotion in the stadium was really something, I saw a lot of tears. I had to hold back my tears for like 20 mins. because being there with my younger brother I would not let him see me cry. But it really was special. I loved Gregg Williams words..."You are the best I ever coached...You will be missed."

Re: Thanks Skins
It was tough for me to get mad at my team today.
I never thought I'd cry at the death of a man I never knew, never even met. But through all the pregame tributes, the moments of silence, it finally hit me. I've been tearing up all day. For some reason, during one of the sideline shots, I was looking for #21. I have no idea why. I guess there's still a part of me that still can't believe he's gone. |
Very true, Smoot, very true.
I'm blown away at how angry so many "fans" are about losing today. It just demonstrates an utter lack of class, thoughtfulness and perspective. I couldn't care less about the Skins winning today from the football standpoint, I really wanted them to win for THEM. They lost a teammate and a friend, the pain of which FAR exceeds our pain at losing a hero and a football player. I really wanted these guys to pull out a win so that they could feel like they really honored Sean. In the end it wasn't meant to be, but it just breaks my heart to those guys crying on the sidelines feeling like they let Sean down.
This is a great thread. It was so disappointing/frustrating to read all the posts of people 'ashamed' of our team today. Thanks for bringing the perspective back in. |
Smoot gave it everything he had today. I mean everything. That was tough to watch at the end.
Yeah, that was Smoot's best game in a Skins uniform that I can remember. He was playing lights-out football all day. |

??? internal reflection, or do you care to share? |
Re: Thanks Skins
Yep its amazing these guys could even put on pads today, quite frankly they were not ready and what was expected of them to "honor" sean was not realistic. They honored him by showing up to day something that was very hard to do.

Re: Thanks Skins
Very tough day, no doubt. My heart is with the team going through this terrible time. I wish they could have pulled it out, but they left it on the field.

Re: Thanks Skins
You all have got to be kidding!!! It's not that we lost the game that upsets me, it's HOW we lost the game, and so many others like it all season long. Granted, there were excellent individual performances today, but as a team, they fell apart, like they have done so many times this year. Gibbs needs to go back to Nascar, and I would love that except for the fact that Saunders is next in line and he is the last person this team needs a s ahead coach. Between the bad playcalling by Saunders, the horrendous clock management by Gibbs, or the half assed play by most of the team, we didn't deserve to win this game, or half of the games we have won this season. It's time to blow it up and start from the ground.

FYI - Contrary to popular belief among teenage fans, blowing up a team isn't as easy as hitting the reset button in Madden. If you want to blow up the team, be prepared for a few years of 2-14 type seasons. |
Re: Thanks Skins
Considering I am 32 years old, very far from a teenager, and have seen a few teams in my lifetime blow up and start over, it can't be much worse then this and the last few seasons have turned out for us. Granted we had a post season birth, but everyone knew we were not gonna win that first round game. Let me elaborate a little bit on what I meant exactly. Both Gibbs and Saunders should be gone next year. Campbell, well, not many will like it but here goes, the man does have a cannon of an arm, but that does no good when he's completing passes to the defense. I say hang on to him for a little bit until we can acquire a truly great QB, either in the draft or free agency. And it is not our record that bothers me, it is HOW we ended up with that record. Yes, I know there are highs and lows in a season, the Taylor situation being uncontrollable as it is, all season has been a low. Now to really get people mad at me, if Taylor was where he should have been, he would have been at least on the sidelines today. I mean, these guys make millions of dollars to play a game. Part of his responsibility to the owner, coaches, teammates, and fans is to behave in an appropriate manner, meaning abiding by ALL rules. Gibbs had no idea he had gone back to Fla, because he wasn't supposed to be there at the time. I am not faulting him for his demise, I'm just stating if he had done as he should have, he would be here today. I do feel for his family, and had a few rough moments myself as a lifelong Skins fan. But emotions do not change the fact of the matter. If you make that kind of money, you do as you are supposed to, not as you want.

Except of course we did win that game Given up on Campbell already? And then I read the rest of your post and realized that you're not going to be a very valuable member of this board with comments like that |
Re: Thanks Skins
It's a public forum, not everyone has to agree with every post on here, it's MY OPINION. Opinion meaning, what I think, I realize not everyone thinks the way I do, but more people then you realize have my exact sentiment.
To answer you question directly... Given up on Campbell already? Yes, in fact, I never agreed with the choice as Campbell for a starter when it happened. I do however realize we are working with what we have, I would just like to see us have better. With Snyder's deep pockets, we can and should have better. I apologize if I offended anyone with my postings, but again, I am simply stating my opinion, backed by some facts. You don't have to take every post personally. |

Go away. Way to F up what was meant to be a positive thread. |
Re: Thanks Skins
what was meant to be a positive thread? Thanks Skins?
Thanks for what? Having a shi**y season, for giving many a game away, for getting our star player killed? Ok then, Thanks, thanks for letting down a lifelong, born and bred skins fan. This is a low point for the team and fans as well, and if you cannot handle people expressing their honest opinion, maybe it is you who should not frequent this forum. |

You say everyone knew we'd lose that first round playoff game, but then don't acknowledge that we did win that game. You say Taylor was supposed to be at the game, but chose to ignore the rules and not go. He was injured, he didn't need to be at the game. He didn't break any rules by going home to his family. |
