Well JLC is reporting that Rocky tore his MCL and ACL, may be out until 2009, and that it typically takes 18-24 months to fully recover from such severe injuries. That's a big blow. Between the severe injuries to Thomas, Jansen, Campbell, Rocky, and Rogers, the loss of Sean Taylor, and the nagging injuries to Rabach, Wade, ARE, Moss, Thrash, Washington, Griffin and Smoot, it is nothing short of astounding that we are 7-7. That's 12/22 starters who are either done for or who have been suffering throughout the year.
Damn Gibbs sucks. Any coach can go undefeated with less than half of the players who were expected to play.

This getting beyond belief. Taylor's death, Rogers and McIntosh torn ACLs and MCLs. I can't think of a team that has lost 3 players of that caliber from one unit where all are under the age of 25. Credit the Skins with drafting well - where would this D be had we not drafted Landry? Drafting H.B. Blades also provides much needed depth in light of Rocky's injury, who I would be shocked if he wasn't placed on IR next year.

Say what you want about Gibbs and staff, but the character he instills has held this team together through extraordinary circumstances.

This is becoming ridiculous. Rocky was having a great year, and to know that he might miss 24 months is really unfortunate. If Rocky is going to be out until 2009 we might end up releasing him.

As a 2nd round pick, I don't believe that he has a huge cap number, and I'm pretty sure that he's signed through 2010. He'll look to come back strong that year before becoming a restricted free agent.

I sincerely doubt that. His cap number is relatively low and he's a talent that you can't just bail on. He won't hold a roster spot because he'll be on the IR, no reason to release him.

Obviously Rocky being released is just pure speculation on my part, and I don't want it to happen, but it is possible. Think about it if our FO thinks that his chronic knee problems are going to be a liability to his career, coupled with the fact that he may miss 2 full seasons they might want to release him and get some relief in the cap.

I'll let Schneed & Crazy Canuck weigh in on the cap ramifications, but I would guess that his cap # for 08 isn't high. Don't see him getting released when he was just starting to hold his own.

That statement is astounding. 12/22 starters is unusual, and more than one team can take.

WOW! I think we're just going to have to get all of our players fitted for bionic arms and legs. In all of my years of watching football (at least 20+) I have never witnessed so many injuries on one team in my entire life. Is it just a freak thing that our players are having these injuries? Is it conditioning? Maybe all of the guys should condition as a team next year?

Staggering.

Well, he dropped to the 2nd round due to injury worries. But the other knee? Wow.

Even our wins this year come with negative news. Amazing.

PS props to the coaches--they have earned their keep by keeping this team competitive with backups and backups to backups.

We had such phenomenal luck as far as injuries during the 2005 season, and now it feels like the football gods are handing down retribution the past two years. Or something like that. This sucks.

On a side note I've thought since draft day that HB Blades would turn into a reliable starter sooner rather than later, and he and Khary Campbell both played well. Looks like we'll need to sign another OLB in the offseason.

I assume Randall Godfrey will be starting the rest of the year. He was inactive yesterday so we had to make do with the Campbell/Blades rotation.

Rocky was a gamer when he finally had his chance. Damn, is Redskin Park a black hole for bad news and tragedy?

out all of next season it looks...have to get a good replacement now, rocky may not be a starter again until marcus washington leaves or tails off in skill more

The problem is I think Marcus has tailed off a bit in skill compared to his first few years with us....
