Some new tidbits about Ggggrilliamsss and his bid:
Redskins, Zorn Talk Offense - washingtonpost.com
Williams met four times with Snyder for the position and had Gibbs's support, sources said, but some who have talked to Snyder said the owner is apprehensive about hiring him despite the support of players and coaches.
and What Now? - Redskins Insider
Gregg Williams remains on the back burner, sitting there, but people close to him don't expect him to be offered the job, and, after the way this thing has gone down, they're not sure Williams would even take it if offered. Jacksonville would love to hire him for its Defensive Coordinator opening, league sources said. Or he could depart Washington with a fat payday, take a year to pull a mini-Cowher and watch his kids play sports, and then size up offers in 2009. Re: Please Calm Down:

Re: Please Calm Down:
sir You make great sense. I had not heard that about Williams. Not that the media would actually tell the whole story. thank you for that information. Williams with that much control would not be favored by me. Not sure what he had in Buffalo, but that he was not successful there. I believe we are still just so emotional over everything last season. Williams would be easy for everyone to accept. Maybe we all need a fresh start. I did notice they took down the black ribbons at Redskin park. Maybe we all need a fresh start and just move on... thank you again

Good point. Say, I hear that Terry Robiskie is available -- he's got head coaching experience. A much better choice than Gregg Williams. |
Re: Please Calm Down:
I agree with just about everything. I would have posted the same think if not due to my illeteracy.
I'm not sure on the "compensation" rules either, but I know Baltimore really, really wants to keep Ryan. I wouldn't be surprised if they demanded draft picks.
The word up here is "multiple draft picks" |
Re: Please Calm Down:
Look on the brightside, we'd have nothing to talk about if we didn't need a new coach.

Re: Please Calm Down:
Don't think ryan's system will be a good fit with our players. Besides the Raven's still have rights to him and he reportedly is happy with the hiring of Harbaugh. On the compensation note it only applies to HC's and isn't allowed for assistants, but as PFT's Mike Florio points out "nothing prevents the Redskins from simultaneously sending a fourth-round pick to the Ravens for their backup punter". I hope the organization has learned from its prior draft pick trade blunders.
I too believe the hold-up on william's is him wanting to much control. Nice post Zorn seems like a good replacement for Al Saunders and should help develop Campbell. I hear alot of people saying it's not fair to Campbell to have to learn a new system and that Saunders should stay. To me it is apparent that the current system Campbell could do okay in with time, but I don't see anything great. Put him in the west coast system now and get him a reciever able to catch a jump ball already. |
Re: Please Calm Down:
I agree with you 100%...I was listening to "Fans" call into Redskins Radio(John riggins Show)who said that if Williams was not hired they would no longer support the team and others said that Dan Snyder needs to be gone as owner. This is not the actions of a true fan. I think everyone needs to just chill and trust that Snyder and Cerrato know what they are doing and will inform Redskins Nation when it is appropriate. Look at all of the Rumers going on with the speculation about who is the leading canidate. My only concern is if a coach is brought from the outsid that I hope we can keep the majority of the players and I hope that players will agree to restructure their contracts if asked to....This will also help to promote team stability.

I wouldn't mind giving the FO the benefit of the doubt but I used all of my up when they signed Adam Archuleta and traded for TJ Duckett. |

First of all, from all accounts Greg Williams has been the difficult one, not Snyder. Williams wants a lot of control over the team and personnel. While I feel coaches should have a slight say in these issues, I think this is a full time position in and of itself to make such decisions. There are even rumors that Williams declined an offer extended to him by Snyder. Perhaps Snyder just doesn’t want to give up that type of power to Williams – this is something that makes sense and I totally understand.
With all due respect, I just don't get these statements and assertions at all Where has it been said or printed that Williams wants control over the team and personnel???? same goes for an offer to Williams, where has that even been uttered??? How in the world could Dan Snyder having even the tiniest bit of say in football related issues make any sense? He is a menace and absolute failure as an owner, why would anyone trust him with football stuff? I just don't get it. |

Honestly, what am I missing here? Why in the world would anyone "trust" these two clowns. IN fact, could someone give me 3 good reasons why we should trust DS and VC to make the right decision?? Remember, the operative word here is "good" |

Don't you guys realize Danny isn't just trying to be an asshole. Why would be he interview GW 4 times?! Use logic guys. It is all about control, remember Marty? Wanted too much we got rid of him. It seems to be a similar issue in this case. Look across the NFL, very few owners give the coach full reigns as president. We did with Gibbs, but that is it. So don't say Danny is the only asshole owner, not true. Also Danny might not know much but that is why he has a huge staff of others such as Vinny, to help out. As for him being a failures, let's compare him to a real failure such as the Detroit ownership. Even the great Cowboys have won 2 less playoff games than us in the last decade. When mods and other "older" posters are telling people are freaking out, there is good reason. Right now everyone is running around like chickens with their heads cut off. Take a deep breath and try to understand things from both sides of the table. |

I thought we made it to the playoffs this year with numerous starters missing.... the death of our best athlete and Coach Joe sometimes forgetting what sport he was in. HOLY CRAP!!! you folks are nothing but doom and gloom around here. Cowher get's hired tomorrow and you are all kissing his backside! Fickle bunch are we?? |
Re: Please Calm Down:
If the proposed coaching staff were to come to fruition (which doesn't appear likely), there is only one reason for it.
Jim Zorn has worked in an offense with more power running and play action than Al Saunders. Rex Ryan runs an attacking 3-4. Jim Fassel is a guy whose firing would be celebrated, leaving us with a team perfect for... Bill Cowher. |
