Re: Patriots Expected to Release LB Colvin
I just saw this on NFL Network. It kind of surprised me. But he's had two MAJOR injuries the last few years so I'm not too sure. I wonder if he and Blache go back when Colvin was at Chi. I know it's tempting cause when healthy he probably is a better pass rusher than anyone we currently have. But I say we pass.
Yeah they were together back in Chi-town. |
Yeah they were together back in Chi-town.
I got to meet him back in Nov 2002, right before he hit free agency. I got his autograph, and asked him where he was desiring to play next year, and he said he always wanted to play for Coach Kiffin in Tampa.
Ended up signing with New England, but there's some insider information for you guys if you wanted a name of a place he might end up. I don't think he'd help us, but he will help somebody. |
Re: Patriots Expected to Release LB Colvin
If he could stay healthy he could be a decent backup to McIntosh and Washington

Re: Patriots Expected to Release LB Colvin
According to my BOY KC Joyner. Colvin is nothing more then a pass rush specialist.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------- LB Rosevelt Colvin -- The release of Colvin could be the first of many personnel changes the Patriots make in their linebacking corps this offseason. The primary reason for the linebacker makeover is that New England's run defense was quite bad in 2007 (it was tied for 26th in rushing yards per attempt). To give you a better idea of just how bad the Patriots' run defense was, consider that Colvin's 5.2 yards per attempt (YPA) on point-of-attack runs was the best among the New England linebacking corps. When the best run-stuffing linebacker on a team has a YPA of 5-plus yards and defeats only two blocks in 42 point-of-attack (POA) attempts, it speaks volumes as to how bad the run defense really was. Colvin may draw some interest from a team looking for some "star name" recognition in free agency, but his limitations in stopping the run make him a less-than-viable free-agent candidate for any team with run defense issues. |
Re: Patriots Expected to Release LB Colvin
Did he fail his physical?

I suppose in the interest of fairness I should lock this thread like I locked your Booger "Failed His Physical" McFarland thread...but I'm not about being fair (insert evil laugh) :) Seriously though, I guess this might be a moot point now |

:) Seriously though, I guess this might be a moot point now
LOL. Nah that's cool Smoot, I will be the first to admit when I make a mistake. Although I remember in some interview I saw in the NFL network saying how different teams have different guidelines on physicals. Meaning that just b/c you fail one team's physical, you will fail them on. So maybe you don't *need* to lock this thread. LOL. |
Re: Patriots Expected to Release LB Colvin
It's a brutal game.

I love this, finally all my bitching has contributed to something useful. Now more people are calling out the guys who try to slap the Veteran Minimum on every available Free Agent that has had a relatively productive career. Crap now I need to find a new cause to fight for.....ah stoping the idiots that think we need to replace Mike Sellers. That should keep me busy. |
