New dinette set and a new mattress set. Kid's getting her share thrown into an ING Savings account, and the leftover will help put gasoline in the goddamn cars!

I'm not getting one and I'm bitter. If I were getting one it would have payed for a new GPS system to replace my stolen GPS.

You do not qualify for an economic stimulus payment

According to law, the economic stimulus payment amount that you would otherwise be entitled to receive is reduced by 5% of the amount that your Tax Year 2007 Adjusted Gross Income exceeds $75,000. You would have been eligible for an economic stimulus payment of $600, but your AGI exceeds $75,000 by enough to reduce that amount to zero.

However, if your situation changes during 2008, you may be able to claim an economic stimulus credit on your Tax Year 2008 return.

I'm getting $600, and I plan on buying some summer clothes. I need some shorts and golf shirts. I'll probably spend half of it and throw the other half into savings. I heard this morning on CNN that the first people to receive the rebates are those who used direct deposit when filing their tax return. I used direct deposit, but it was through TurboTax. Does anyone know if that counts, or does it have to be direct deposit used straight through ww.irs.gov??

I'm going to trade my ps2 for a ps3. On the other hand I know the need to be responsible, so I'll probably save at least $10 or $20 of it.;)

I'm not getting one and I'm bitter. Not towards the government, but towards my mother.

She intends on claiming me until I finish college and thus, no rebate check for me. :(

Yeah so is she really over 50% supporting you? If not you can just file and she can pay the consequences of claiming you.

Enough not to get a rebate check and not enough to be rich ;);)

I'm actually surprised that many in here are getting money back. Maybe it has to do with being married and having kids?

How do you know how much to expect? Does everyone that qualifies get the $600?

Re: Rebate Checks

The IRS website can help you determine how much you'll get back

You can use this calculator by the IRS to see if you're getting one.

Yes, that's exactly the case.

If you file as a single person, and you make over $75K, you get nothing back.

If you are married and file jointly, and you make over $150K between the two of you, you get nothing back.

Otherwise, the single person gets $600 and the married couple gets $1200.

So if I were on my own as a single dude, I'd be in the same boat as you. But luckily the wife's lame ass salary keeps us below the $150K mark as a couple.

Each kid gives you another $300 as well. I knew they were good for somethin!

Re: Rebate Checks

I'll be getting $300 back. My money is going to have to go towards buying a really cheap car since I don't have one right now. My mom traded in the minivan I was driving so she could get a new car and now I don't have a car. I got a job last month but when I told them I didn't have a car they let me go because they said the bus wasn't "reliable transportation". So now I have no job and no car lol and my parents don't have money to help me get a cheap little car.
