Re: People dumping in community?
It is against the law to dump your trash in a dumpster that does not belong to you. In Virginia this carries up to a $5000 fine and/or up to a 2 year jail sentence, I think. But, unless a cop rolls up on the person in the act, it's a hard one to enforce.

But on the bright side, at least they're not burning their old furniture in the front yard as is the practice in some areas of the country.
Good point. While it may be illegal to tape someone without their knowledge(See post above i.e. Trail Cameras) there is nothing that says you can't put a sign up that tells people they are being video taped and violaters will be fined. A giant sign with a camera and red letters will cut down on dumping 50% I bet.

I'd be pretty pissed if someone was constantly dumping in my community!

Anyone in need of a living room set? ... How the heck am I going to get rid of this stuff? I cannot tell you how much it fires me up to pull into my neighborhood and right smack in front of me is an old couch, chairs, cushions..etc.. sitting on the nice lawn right next to the community mailboxes… ugh!

Just found this: Illegal Dumping Hotline: 240.777.DUMP . They will actually investigate.. so I put a call in and reported it. Oh, and I'll take a pic of the furniture tonight to those that might be interested.. LOL

Look at that, I remembered something from my social research class in college!

panties in a twist over some old junk? why not call to have the dumpster emptied? then, in the very least, if they dont take the furniture, you will have room to get it into the dumpster( assuming its a big construction dumpster) otherwise, why not look into seeing if you can have it moved.

If it were your community and someone was dumping their shi+ all over it you would get your tighty whities is a twist too. I already asked the construction people and they will not remove it, or let me put it into the dumpster, and I've yet to be able to find someone to haul it away that won't cost me money. Having yet another person add the mattress onto the furniture this morning made me angry - not surprising.

I'd say hessy has a valid point in being upset.

Just set the contents of the dumpster on fire.

The dumpster itself should survive to repeat tomorrow.
