well, someone wanted rain at the Obama speech. i guess they just got their dates mixed up. and come on, buster. do you really think Bush would have been welcomed there?

I've never really thought of Bill as an independent, though I know he's described himself that way. The only time I've heard him go against the standard democrat party line is with social security; he once acknowledged that people stand to do better over the long haul investing in the stock market than being dependent on social security. He's also for the legalization of marijuana, but the dems aren't exactly taking up that charge.

He might appear to be drifting to the left because we've had a Republican in office for 8 years. If a democrat were in office, he might be more inclined to drift to the center.

Really though, on occasion I've heard Maher lambast the Dems too -- I think it just depends on the issue.
