Re: $150G From GOP For Fashions For Palins?
Heck no I went right to the Obama web site for one. These are list of pork he has stuck into bills and he is proud of asking congress for over 900 million for his pet projects.Obama Announces FY08 Federal Funding Requests | U.S. Senator Barack Obama
Or maybe you could look at fact check to read about his 3 million for an overhead projector. FactCheck.org: Did Obama request a $3 million 'overhead projector,' as McCain claimed? Or how about this site were they show that for every working day (Monday-Friday) Obama has been in ofice has asked for an average of a million dollars on pork spending. PolitiFact | McCain's got Obama over a pork barrel
But polls show that independents have more confidence in Obama and the economy :frusty: |

Funny how they point out 150g that was spent with non taxpayer money but don't have a problem with all the pork Obama has asked for. A million dollars for every working day he has been in office. |
Re: $150G From GOP For Fashions For Palins?
The one for the building was a seperate bill which was not stuck in on the back pages of another bill. So congree has to vote on that straight up and I'm not sure if thats really considered pork spending. The other is for a buffer zone around a Air Base and I just don't know if thats considered port in a defense spending bill. We have that issue here in our area because the navy jets practice right over peoples homes. So from my perspective its a defense issue.
Re: $150G From GOP For Fashions For Palins?
The clothes and the cost is not entirely the point, but rather the context in which Palin and the GOP have portrayed her. That being a small town Mayor from Wassilla, who connects with and is in touch with Joe Six Pack and hardworking, pro-Americans as she puts it. That's the point. We're fussing over the dollar amount, when it's the principle that I would be concerned with. No one really gave a shit when Jackie Kennedy, Cindy McCain, Teresa Heinz-Kerry, or anyone else who spent a gazillion dollars on clothes. Because they didn't present themselves as common and in touch with the average Joe. They never pretended to understand the financial struggles of small town America. They were people of means and didn't apologize for it. People respected that, even if they didn't agree with it. So this smacks of hypocrisy as far as Palin's critics are concerned.
Moreover, and to take all of this a step further, the GOP has tried to paint Barack as an elitist and out of touch, among other things. So there is a huge disconnect between who they say they are, and the type of campaign they're actually running. Both sides are and have been less than perfect during this election. I'm sure Barack spends a pretty penny on his suits, but he does make decent money in the Senate and has two number one best sellers to show for it. And still, he leads a fairly modest lifestyle. But I digress. |

Fact Check: McCain earmark claims examined - CNN.com
Well ok McCain has had 24 mill (thats what your saying I'll just agree) in his long term and Obama in less then two years has over 900 mill. You guys seem to ignore those numbers and want to turn this over as a McCain issue when it clearly an OBama issue. |
Re: $150G From GOP For Fashions For Palins?
I take issue with McCain saying one thing and doing something entirely different. Honestly FD, is he senile or just a liar? He seems to double talk a lot. Does that concern you at all?

Well it seems by your link provided that Obama also says McCain has not taken any earmarks. The Obama campaign points out that although McCain hasn't asked for earmarks, his running mate hardly has room to talk. Yes Obama has never changed his mind or Flip Floped lie is the word you like. NAFTA Drilling for Oil Campain Financing Iraq War |

Re: $150G From GOP For Fashions For Palins?
Well you started this thread to point out the the Rep Party has spent over 150 thousand on clothing for Palin and her family. I then put it back on you about the spending habbits of Obama and pork spend he has received and the 900 million he has asked for but everytime you skip the subject. So you don't have issues with his waisted pork he has received and tried to get in less than two years? Seems like he is preaching for change but he is just one of the things we need change from. Sorry but my home computer sound is not working so I could not listen to your clip. I'm sure its McCain changing his mind but every politician does and I list just a few that Obam has done the same thing.

Re: $150G From GOP For Fashions For Palins?
Just watch the clip when you can, seems like McCain can't even remember what his stances are on things. He literally goes back and forth from one minute to another at times.

Well your still avoiding the point and ignoring Obama's spending of tax payers money. |
Re: $150G From GOP For Fashions For Palins?
Well, you avoided my original point right from the start and jumped right into this earmark bs, so fair is fair.
So who is the elitist here? Obama in his worn out soled shoes Or Miss Hockey Mom/Joe Six-Pack in her $2,500 Valentino jacket? I'm sure Joe the Plumber can really relate to blowing through $150,000 on clothes and makeup when the average American household spends less than $2k on clothes per year. |
Re: $150G From GOP For Fashions For Palins?
Ding ding ding, round one Matty!
But for real, where did you get that pic of his shoes? |
Re: $150G From GOP For Fashions For Palins?
Whatever Matty, Bill Clinton has expensive suits! And don't get me started on Al "I invented the Italian loafer" Gore! And the earmarks, don't forget the earmarks!
Right back at you. Hope you aren't sweating from the heat I'm bringing to your door, booyah!:Smoker: |
