Re: So, let's discuss Anthony Aldridge, our newest signed player
I definitely think we're looking for return men. ARE won't be returning punts this year.
If he's a candidate to replace ARE on punt returns, we need to know how fast he can run backwards. But seriously, I'm glad that we're trying to find an explosive return man. |
If this helps...John Lynch..Kris Jenkins..Shawn Rogers..Kurt Warner, to name a few. Even James Harris was cut 3 times by the Steelers and once by the Ravens and became the defensive MVP this year.
Hey, that does make me feel better. |

As long as he saves us a draft pick then I'm good.

I think this means if one of these guys does pan out rock is gone.

I really like El, but the later running on returns drives me nuts.
Lets give this kid a shot and see what he can do. |

Re: So, let's discuss Anthony Aldridge, our newest signed player
I'm not sure why everyone is so tied up on him just being punt returner. Maybe it's just me but it seems like we wouldn't mind having a new KR too.
I love having Rock as much as the next guy and I'm not sure where everybody says that his vision comes from... maybe his vision is good but his elusiveness is not.. and he doesn't break many tackles either, he does go in with a full head of steam and RARELY gives us a bad spot though, just rarely an amazing one. |

How 'bout Rock and this guy? |

Usually, but it's nearly always fielded by the main guy. |
Re: So, let's discuss Anthony Aldridge, our newest signed player
I like what we are trying to do here with getting players with explosive potential who can make an impact on special teams. I am tired of first Betts and now Rock running full speed in a straight line and slamming into a pile. If for some reason a crease is there our KR get walked down at about the 40. While I acknowledge Rock is good at getting field position, I attribute that to the blocking. The difference is that second burst available if a seam is there to take it to the house. We've been missing that spark for years!

How old is Mike Nelms now? |
Re: So, let's discuss Anthony Aldridge, our newest signed player
Why get a shorty though? Sure get a return guy at 5'9", but your return guy usually also is a #4 or #5 WR right? I know we are trying to get a guy on the cheap, but shouldn't we look at a taller guy that can also be a bona fide WR also?

He's fast. Just think of him as one of the smurfs Gus.
