More new rule but these are playoff seeding. Also another onside kick rule.
That's a rule change that makes sense |
Re: NFL Owners Pass Four New Player Safety Rules
I think the rule about hitting the head of a defenseless WR is going to have the biggest impact on the game. Just like now when a defender goes to block a pass and happens to hit the QB on the head they get a 15 yard penalty. I'm not talking about the hard hits to the head but more of the light accidental ones we see all the time that draw a 15 yard penalty. Now I think the same thing will happen as the defender goes to makes a play and happens to hit the WR on the head they will draw a 15 yard penalty and I can see allot of fans saying that a BS call that apart of football.
I guess it depends how they define "defenseless" Is it someone who isn't catching the ball but hit is unavoidable? Guy in the air? What if they're both going up for the ball and both heads knock a bit? Guess we're going to need to see it in action. |
Just watched the Brady hit again...it still appears to me that a Patriots blocker actually pushed the KC defender into Brady.
What is a lunge from the ground? Falling from your knees into the QB? What if you're blocked into it? Is that worse than running straight at the guy? How many QB's are getting blown knees and ankles from being snatched below the knee? I just can't see that one just because it happened to Brady. |
Re: NFL Owners Pass Four New Player Safety Rules
I think these microprotecting rules are stupid. The reason they enacted the on-side rule is because "they were getting matchups there that they thought were dangerous." I mean jesus it's football! It's like they think it is possible to rule danger out of the game yet still allow them to run full speed into each other. Es stupido.

Re: NFL Owners Pass Four New Player Safety Rules
All of the rules are stupid and detract from the real game of football, but the one that really has me scratching my head is not allowing more than five players bunched together for an onside kick. How are you supposed to recover it?
I've never seen any player get hurt on an onside kick in my life. No wedge makes no sense but it can be worked around. Now Tom Brady is officially a wuss. He has a "don't touch me" rule in his name.
I'm not sure Brady has anything to do with the rule himself. It's the owners that are voting on this silly crap. I'm not even sure what the rule is. Wasn't there already a rule put it when Carson Palmer got hurt? |

I believe it was put where it went out on an onside kick. |
Re: NFL Owners Pass Four New Player Safety Rules
Is Tom Brady on the rules committee or something??

I'm pretty sure there was, it just got de-emphasized Also, in defense of banning the wedge...someone was going to get killed busting up wedges. I've seen Mike Sellers just throw his body into the collective knees of the blockers in a wedge, that's just dangerous for everyone involved. I actually like the outlawing of the wedge. |

he's on the pretty committee .. faces of the game prevail |
Re: NFL Owners Pass Four New Player Safety Rules
Also it is important to note not many teams use a wedge, we are one of the few teams that do. It will be interesting to see how this rule affects our performance. Rock was one of the top kick returners in the NFL for the last couple years, how will wedgeless Rock and the rest of Danny Smith's boys fair?

This was all because of Brady and the crybaby/whinny NE fans. I just hope Darth Hoody quits bitching about how the whole league is against him and his team after this. |
