Unfortunately the Skins are part of that handful of teams. Most people outside of DC think the ownership is a joke and the team's performance since DS took over has done little to improve the Skins image as anything more than a six time NFL paper champion.

The really unfortunate part of this is how it continues to suck the life out of the fanbase. A lot of the guys I know that used to live and die with the Skins now barely seem interested. Sure they follow the team but nowhere near like they used to and it has to do almost entirely with the FO circus and lack of winning on the field. Its really sad.
Yeah it has nothing to do with there being infinite entertainment options, a largely transient surrounding area encompassing their geographical fan base and them getting older and having other things to worry about.

Actually, studies show that the DC area is no more transient than any other large city.

Look at the Caps, they were given up for dead and then they started winning like crazy and now its almost impossible to get a ticket. When the Skins get back to winning and doing it often the ticket will be hot again and other teams fans wont be able to over-run FedEx. Unfortunately I'm not sure this ownership is capable of doing that.
Fans should boycott the team and not spend a penny on attending games, buying jersey, paying for parking, and etc. Snyder and Cerrato have zero creditability, no respect, and has no clue on how to build a great team. Together, they made this franchise the biggest laughing stock in the NFL.
Yes, laughing stocks finish with winning records in the toughest division in pro sports.

This thread is ridiculous. I'll root for the Skins no matter who is calling the shots. Truth is, the Redskins are STILL the classiest franchise in the league. Until Haynesworth, we had no players who caused any legal troubles, and his was just a traffic offense that happened while on another team. We have a core of players who the fans love: Portis, Cooley, Landry, Moss, CAMPBELL. We have dealt with some devastating injuries in the past few years and still remained competitive, even making the playoffs and winning one, something Dallas hasn't done for 13 years. Snyder hired a coach who never coached before in his life, not even a pro coordinator. He finished .500 in his first season and would have done FAR better without the line injuries. Sure, we could have tried to prepare better with more depth on the bench, but overall, we have a great team and it's been upgraded dramatically this season with Haynesworth, Dockery and resigning Hall. Who did that? Oh yes, Dan Snyder. I don't agree with everything he does, but he brought back Gibbs and has built a very good core here that I am a huge fan of. I am very relieved we did not get Cutler, but you can't deny that Snyder has the team's success in mind when he tries these strange moves. At least we have an owner that actually TRIES to improve the team, unlike Detroit. We're also lucky he's not the type of egomaniac who tries to call plays from his luxury box like Jerry Jones or Al Davis. Being an NFL owner is a lot like being President, you're never going to be popular and fans will always think they can do a better job. Even Kraft up in New England has his share of detractors and haters.

We have too many drama queens here. We have a VERY respectable team who I'm excited and proud to call myself a fan of. I am very excited to watch the Skins compete for the NFC East title this season, especially since Dallas and Philly went the opposite direction as us this offseason.

Yeah, because the Orioles and Blue Jays are such great teams.

Until last year, that was a 2-team race.

The NFC East is almost ALWAYS a 4-team war, like last year when all teams were .500 or better and in playoff contention as of Week 16.

Man you guys act like we traded 2 first rounders for Cutler. It's starting to sound quite eagle-ish around here.

The Rams, Lions, Raiders, 49ers, Bills, and Jets are all more of a laughing stock then the Redskins.

I guess it depends on how you define success. If you define success since Snyder purchased the team as an overall record of 66-78. no NFC East Titles, No NFC titles, and no Super bowl appearances, then yes, Dan Snyder';s tenure has gone well, real well. Plus you say, well, at least we don't have an owner like Detroit or Al Davis. I say, why can we have an owner like Dan Rooney or Bob Kraft. Why always shoot for the bottom? You also say we have an owner who TRIES and improves the team? Really? Dan Snyder acts on impulse and whims. There is no franchise plan. That is not trying to improve, that is wanting to win HIS way and that is it. I have not talked to one scout, one draft professional, or one media person that has any respect for Vinny Cerrato. What has Cerrato done to deserve his job? I';ll answer that. He plays racquetball with Snyder and says yes to Snyder when Snyder asks if this or that is a good idea.

Optimism is one thing. Pessimism is another. yet, reality is as well. How many more off-season farces and mediocre records does it take? It's been almost a decade.

Re: Dumb and Dumber, Vinny and Dan

Dan Snyder is a terrible owner. If you can't see that you're either employed by him or you've got your head buried in the sand. Our head coach seems like a decent man, ditto for the defensive coordinator. I like a lot of the players, not all of them. But Snyder is awful. He's terrible. It's rather stunning that some people still debate this.
