re: Romo gets dissed again.
Man, Jacobs sure does like to talk about opposing players doesn't he? I think he made some comments about Laron Landry a few weeks back as well.

re: Romo gets dissed again.
Jacobs is classless in my opinion. His attitude on and off the field just stinks. I wouldn't even like him if he played for the Skins. I would be chanting for his release.

Romo is a gunslinger, but not much of a winner IMO, and he can't really pick you apart. I think he's pretty weak mentally as well. When things are going well, he sports that shit eating grin and slings the ball around pretty well. When the going gets tough however, he's hasn't answered the call.
Tony Romo Statistics - Pro-Football-Reference.com I Would say that 27-12 is a winner my man... you guys always blame him for the losses but yet when they win it's the team around him... All I am saying is this guy is legit and there is no doubt about it.. Hey Peyton Manning lost how many of his first playoff games??? So you can't say Romo is overated.
Peyton and the offense carried the team when he arrived. the defense was horrid, hence the hiring of Dungy. The defense came together one yr. that yr they hoisted the Lombardi |
re: Romo gets dissed again.
The blame for losses will inevitably fall to the QB, regardless of the rest of the team. When the Eagles failed to get to the Super Bowl 4 years in a row, somehow the blame fell to McNabb.
When the Giants beat "the unbeatable" Patriots in the SB 2 years ago, it was inevitably put on Brady's inability to counter the NY defensive onslaught. Same label was placed on John Elway, who had 5 playoff losses before they started making runs to the SB in Denver. Likewise with Peyton Manning, 5 playoff losses before his team started winning. Even Jason Campbell is being made a scapegoat in Washington, else why would they have tried and failed to trade for a replacement twice in one off-season. I cant help but remember the Ravens game at Texas Stadium last season. The Dallas offense was able to keep a lead deep in the 4th quarter. Then the DEFENSE allowed and 82 yard TD run. Very next set of plays, the Dallas Offense marched down field and took the lead again. Yep, with Tony Romo under pressure, but he still got it in the end zone. Ravens next possesion, the DEFENSE allowed a 77 yard TD run which cost the game. And still the blame eventually fell to the QB. Cant win the big game. That is the price of being a QB in the NFL. You will always bask in the wins, but no matter how well an individual effort is, the loss gets blamed on you too. And for teams like Washington and Dallas, the pressure is a bit higher. They are large market teams. And each team has deep playoff runs and/or championship seasons in almost every decade. the Cowboys have been a perinial playoff team is every decade since thier inception. The Cowboys have been in and or won a Super Bowl at least once in every decade since thier inception except one, the 1980's. But in the 1980's they were and the conference championship game more than once. So there is a bit more pressure on them because the expectations are so high. Not making excuses for Romo, more than a few times I have cussed him because of poor throws or decisions. But equally so, I have enjoyed what he has done. I'll bet many of you can say the same for JC. Your cussin one minute and wearing his jersey the next. |
re: Romo gets dissed again.
Ya know, I REALLY hate to take the discussion here but many of the JC detractors in fact want him to turn into Tony Romo.
The characteristics that Romo has (that HIS detractors light him up about) are that 'it' factor, the gunslinging mentality, taking chances, pushing the ball down the field where it may not be wide open but taking a chance anyway, putting up impressive but hollow TD, yardage and PPG numbers. Those are the main criticisms I've seen around here all offseason about Campbell. If I had a dollar for every time I read a variation of 'I'll take more interceptions if it means that Campbell is taking chances' or 'he needs to throw the ball down the field because good things might happen' then I'd be rich. The irony is some of us rip in others what we want in ours. [/rant] Romo is an OK QB, he's nothing particularly special from what I've seen. Without T.O. I think he's really going to struggle this season because teams are going to take Witten away and single cover their other WR. Jacobs needs to worry about his own passing attack though because Kevin Boss, Sinorice Moss and Dominik Hixon ain't scaring anyone. |

I dont think the defense had anything to do with Romo dropping the extra point hold.....oh wait, Ware distracted him by yelling from the sideline...must be the defenses fault. :) Tony Romo was 16 the last time the Cowboys won a playoff game. Romo is overrated, and for a QB that hasnt won anything, talking heads still line up to kiss his butt. |

Here I was attempting to bring something constructive to the table, and it turns into a bashing sessioin. Ok, fine. But you wont find 2 threads dedicated to a Jason Campbell on a Cowboys forum. Can't say that about this one though. Just funny how there is almost the same amout of threads about Romo and the Cowboys here as there are about Jason Campbell. I'm not saying...I'm just saying. |
re: Romo gets dissed again.
Jacob's is pretty much a caveman and fortunately for the Giants, he gets paid to run and not think. Romo has appeared to be pretty good at improvising in the past. That's the frustrating thing about him as a Skins fan. Right when you think a play is dead or they've f**ked up big time, he somehow makes a big play. This, I think, has added a great deal to him being thought of as an elite QB. This is what I believe caveman Jacobs is alluding to. If you take the improvising away and just keep him in the pocket, how good is he? Making something out of nothing is certainly what you would like your QB to do, but when those completions start turning into picks, you start looking pretty bad. I think without TO this year we'll see a better picture of who Romo really is.

But I dont understand the thinking of those that want a more aggressive quarterback. I would love to see more scoring, but taking care of the ball should always be a premium in the NFL. Brett Favre is a perfect example of this, lots of TD's....but lots of INT's to go along with it. A great quarterback that won just 1 Super bowl, and that is the gamble you take with gunslinger QB's. Id rather play good defense, run the ball 50% of the plays, and trust a steady quarterback...just my two cents. |

Strange situation. A guy hiding from coaches so his buddy can go in? Talk about the inmates running the asylum. |
