I agree. He's a longtime Redskin and a core guy. More than that he's a beast out there. He's a vocal leader and he's a team guy. Let's not break the bank but i think an extension would be well deserved.

I see both sides to it. On one side you might say, you've signed a contract so play it out. On the other side you might say that these contracts aren't guaranteed and Mike Sellers has outplayed his contract. I can see it from the eyes of the player too. You've got a limited amount of time to make your money...so make it.
He did leave us, get in trouble, then we gave him a second chance. I like him but if 900k a year is not good enough then too bad.

Man's got a point. I think he should get a little more cash given how well he has played for us the past four years.

I think you are kinda comparing apples to oranges there. I like Sellers a lot, but for some reason the image of him fumbling at the 1-yd line in that game against Cincinnati keeps popping in my mind. I know it's unfair to say that, but that was just a terrible moment for the Skins last year.

There were plenty of bad moments for the Skins last year and it wasn't just Sellers making them. What would we look like without him? Give him some money!

I'm not disagreeing (and like I said, it was unfair for me to bring this up), but I just remember going insane when it happened.

Well I did too Ruh, but I thought the ball crossed the goaline or at least the whistle should have been blown. Anyway, he makes Portis and the rest of this offense better and he's worth more than he's making compared to some of the other FB's. I'm not trying to make a big deal out of it, but with all the players in the league whose effort is less than stellar, I think Mike deserves this and I think we're better when he's on the field.

Re: Sellers believes he's due for raise

On a personal level, it's only fair to give him what he deserves: within the top 5 of fullback salaries.

On a business level, it can be justified and leveraged by 2 major things- his recent past production/performance consistently for years and potential to continue to produce. Lorenzo Neal is 38 years old. Mike Sellers is 34. I think it's comparible to use Neal's age, durability, and longevity in football to predict Sellers's. At least 4 more years for Sellers at this level may be likely.

And 2 seasons from now, when his contract is up- I would not want to see him in a giants uniform blocking for Brandon Jacobs. Could you or would you want to imagine that? That's what you would call a power run game.

Well said.

The Caveman is a monster. I really would not want to sit across from him and tell him that he didn't deserve a raise. He might hurdle the table and administer one of the patented "Curl up in the fetal position like Zach Thomas" hits.

Unfortunately for Sellers, contracts are based on the future -- not the past. From a business perspective, it really just doesn't make sense. Sorry Mike.

When the guy doesn't fumble on the 1 and decides to not half-ass warm-ups, then we can talk. He's under contract and not in his final year, STFU and play.

Did you mention that to him at TC today ;)

Seriously though, all the quotes look like a lot of good stuff today, did you have a good time there?

Same question to you Daseal!
