Thanks for a thorough report Sammy!

Glad to hear that Blades is working only at MLB, I don't think he was cut out to play OLB. I hope Smoot steps up, I would hate to see him get cut or demoted way down.

I'm not surprised to hear about Brennan. He can be very accurate but also erratic at times. I only hope that his accuracy issues are part of his adjustment to his new form.

Rinehart sounds like he might have a hard time pass blocking. Something to watch in preseason.
Rinehart sounds like he might have a hard time pass blocking. Something to watch in preseason.
Agreed. IMO it's a technique and adjusting to NFL level speed issue. On the plays I saw and in 11-11, he's not getting man-handled, just out-quicked or makes a technical mistake. I would expect by game three of pre-season he should be fine. If not, Bridges' regular position is G.
Good stuff. Thanks for being our eyes and ears at camp.

Any observations on how much Fred Davis might be used?
The O did show a Bunch formation with Davis & Cooley, also a 4WR set with Davis in the slot. Davis is moving well, and hands look good. He did have one drop in 11-11s. They also showed a Singleback w/2TEs, Davis was in motion. I wouldn't necessarily pick up Davis in any fantasy leagues but I expect him to have an impact this year.

This was a FANTASTIC summary...I'd say professional grade.
BTW, I dont like the new writer on redskins.com....a whole bunch of fluff and storytelling.
Why don't you take his job?
OUTSTANDING....
Please...if anyone else goes to camp...can you give us your opinion and observations too...even if it is a one liner, it would help

From what you've seen Sammy, what is your biggest concern other than the o-line right now? What are you most confident in?

Hope I answered most of the questions. I had a good time and having all the info to gather kept me on my toes and made camp more interesting. Glad to help and thanks to all for the kind words.

P.S. - If your reading this DS, we could definitely talk about open positions with the Skins....:yeahright
From what you've seen Sammy, what is your biggest concern other than the o-line right now? Even if he's ready for late pre-season he'll have missed all of training camp and most of preseason practice. He won't be game ready come week 1. I think he's headed for IR. Barring miserable performances in pre-season Rinehart should start at RG. If Rinehart stinks it up, Bridges is more than capable. I think Heyer will be OK at RT, but depth at T becomes an issue if we have any injuries.

My biggest concern in the off-season was actually at C. I thought Rabach was done, but the revelation of how serious R. Thomas' injury was explains some of the problems on the interior of the line. I didn't see Rabach do anything yesterday, but all reports are he is doing well. His backup Will Montgomery looked solid so I think C will be fine. Samuels and Dock look good and I expect them to be a 2009 version of Jacoby/Grimm.

I've been hearing some good things about Devin Clark at Tackle, did you see anything from him? If so, is it just optimistic talk or does he look capable? I know you didn't get a chance to see everything but I appreciate your input. There's been good reports on Will Montgomery also. I understand Rinehart has added a lot of muscle in the offseason.

Actually, Buges himself said he was concerned about Thomas' health, I can't remember where exactly this appeared (prob WaPost), but I remember that catching my attention.

RT's a great player and a warrior and from the few moments of meeting him at Beach Bash a couple of years ago seems like a genuinely good guy, but watching him walk/limp across the far side of the field without having done any work was very telling/depressing to me. My fear is he'll try to go and mask any injury as best he can like last year and his play will suffer, or worse he'll be seriously injured.

I didn't see Clark's reps in those drills. He didn't make any glaring mistakes in 11-11s.

I did see a couple of Montgomery's reps and he did well. He worked in all the contact drills with the first unit and no problems.
