Take away that 74 yard run, and Portis is done this year. He hasn't done one damn thing worth a damn. He's given us some really good years, but he's done. I don't even see him laying out blitzers like he used to.

Losing two steps in the NFL is two too many. Trade him or bench him. Rock and Betts were much better and ran much harder.
He is done. Don't think any team would trade for him now. Rock and Betts are straight ahead; no speed to get around the end. This O is doomed.

And in all honesty, most any other back in the league would have scored on that run with one man to beat.

A young, talented RB with speed. What everyone in the NFL is looking for. Is it in this team's future with everything else in the offense to address next year?
Funny that you mention discipline because Portis' problem is discipline too. He doesn't practice, he has had run-ins with head coaches (both Gibbs and Zorn), and this year he called out Sellers (correctly, but it is still wrong). He has a direct line to the owner, and that seems to allow him to do whatever he wants.
I agree, and that's what makes him the thread title. He takes a position that's not condusive to winning football.

Portis sucks...end of story. Over hyped over paid prima donna. I hope he is ok from the concussion, but I won't lose sleep if I never see him in a skins jersey again.

Betts and Rock are at minimum equal to Portis.

Im guessing he has a boat load of guaranteed money coming to him in the next two years, so we are probably stuck with him.

Just add him to the list of Skins that are stealing money and giving minimal effort.

In all fairness to CP when he was in there he had Falcons right in his face. There were no holes. CP may not be what he once was but if there is a hole he hits it.

Re: Portis is a BIG problem!!!

I wouldnt say Portis is a problem, he is not a primary back anymore. I think we need to see someone else back there. Betts isnt the answer and Rock is about done. I like to see Portis getting a third of the carries back there, his isnt a twenty touch guy anymore. Our bigger issue is the Oline and receivers.
lol sadly this same thread was brought in the offseason in which many posters on this board piggy-backed with the mods with such statements as "you dont know football" or "yeah lets blame our rb with near;y 1500 yds NS top 10 rb ranking" . . . yada yada yada

yeah dont blame cp, i you want a rationale reason you have to ask the mods who apparently when this subject of this skins being married contractually to portis in the offseason is a non issue..... yawn.

sadly, most mods are on record as saying there needs to be a change at rb, please compare this with their put down thoughts just a few months ago.

go skins!!
Let's not get crazy now...

You're basing this on one game. Now Betts & Rock are kings because they ran against a defense that was preparing for an offense to pass in the 2nd half? Hardly...if either Betts or Rock are keyed & schemed on like Portis is in the week leading to the game they wouldn't have the same output.

I'm not a believer in either Betts or Rock under this dismal OL. Our OL is more of a cause for poor rushing game than our RBs are at this point.

One half is hardly reference enough to cite change or indict culpability.

For the most part I agree with your post here. But even though the sample size is small, Betts certainly looked like he had a heck of a lot more bounce and pop than Portis has all year. Portis is also battling through a myriad of injuries to his right leg, and now he has a concussion to deal with. I would have no issue with shutting him down for a few games or at least making the backfield a full on time share.

As far as the thread title, I don't know if he's a "BIG" problem, but he's not really helping us at all either. His contract however will become a GIANT problem if a new CBA gets signed.

Good post, GM and Tee! I'm hoping we will do complete overhaul on the line this off-season..

Betts has always been quick to the hole

He just looked faster and more energetic today. He ripped off several solid gains. Portis is beat up and has lost a few steps. I think the fact that Betts is so fast to the hole is more of what we need with our patchwork O-line. The few decent holes they can produce don't stay open very long.

Re: Portis is a BIG problem!!!

when a team is losing its easy to find scapegoats......the fact is that portis may be the best player on your entire team......its a shame he is starting to speak up about his unhappiness but he deserves the fans respect simply because of his talent level and his patience to wait this long before saying something

Re: Portis is a BIG problem!!!

if you guys get some insider info to whether portis is out for awhile let me know.......im dying for a RB in fantasy football and betts would make a solid contribution........right now im riding jamal lewis, rashard mendenhall, and fred jackson......i need a solid RB
