Of course the NFL would win any rating contest...it's officially America's Sport. BTW, if you look at the order of league links on ESPN you will notice the importance of each sport relative to others....NFL, then MLB, then NBA, then NHL.

The thing that's wrong with the NBA is once you sign somebody like Gilbert Arenas to a long term contract for megabucks, you're stuck with them. Just like I hate it because we gave AH millions of dollars guaranteed. Now I'm anti-AH and he's anti Redskins, even though they gave him all that money. So I end up not watching the NBA games until the finals and I boo AH when he crawls off the football field.
agree 100%. the nba was pretty awesome back in the late 80's-early 90's. after that, for some reason, it just really lost it's luster.
I think it has to do with a little thing called Defense!!!

I agree with you the 80's and 90's were great.
The showdowns of The knicks and bulls or knicks and heat or pistons and bulls or hornets and heat...any of these games could get heated cause buckets were not just given away!

The 3 big reasons I quit watching the NBA in the early 90's were first of all the Pistons went to crap, the Bulls won it all at will, and last but not least, the gangsta rap culture that totally took over the league.

Then maybe Stern needs to do something about increasing the competitve level of his product. Just about every year you can pick who is going to be in the finals every June. I mean look at MSN's homepage headline for sports. Oh no!!!! Oklahoma City took a game from the Lakers, can the Lakers come back? Talk about boring!!!!!!! The NHL playoffs are way more exciting than this crap.
