Re: Dreams
I graduated from college in '04 but I still have the dream that I haven't been to class all semester and the school takes my diploma away. It always sucks.
When I was younger I used to have a reoccurring dream that I was stick in the backseat or passenger seat of a run away car and I had to try to reach the steering wheel and break pedal. Those freaked me out, and I'm sure there's some kind of deeper meaning that I don't want to think about.
I have this dream often. It's always some circumstance brings me back to college as though I haven't finished and it's like I have to work extra hard and things are all different when I go back. I also (seriously!) have a dream that many times I'm going Resident Evil style and am either protecting people from zombies or terrorists. I always have some sort of automatic weapon and try to protect my family. |

Luckily I had a grenade launcher. |
Re: Dreams
I have some violent dreams at times, but it's usually from playing too much Call of Duty

Re: Dreams
I occasionally have dreams where someone/something is trying to kill me. They never succeed though!! Muuuuhahahaha!

I keep having dreams that I either reenlist or that I am still in the Army. Every night I'm in a new f'd up situation. When I wake up I breathe a sigh of relief that it was just a dream.
I have that one. I am in the dream, and my discharge was denied. I was involuntarily extended, and I have absolutely no clue where to report. I HATE that dream. I also have sleep walked. One time, while doing a paper route, I got out of bed, got ready, walked outside, the papers weren't there and I was mad, so I called the guy who ran the route, and said where are my papers! He cussed me out and said it's only 1:45 am, i argued, and then at some point woke up in a complete fog of where I was, I had to stumble out an apology and go back upstairs to bed. It's happened a couple other times, but that was the deepest and weirdest. |
Re: Dreams
Anyone ever have lucid dreams, you know where you become aware of the fact that you are dreaming? It's pretty wild, there are actually some techniques you can train your brain with to make it happen more often.

Wow I have had that happen and I have been like this is dream and started to act different in the dream. |

Yeah, I have had that happen many times. However it seems that once I realize I'm dreaming, it's only a matter of minutes before I wake up. Never seems to last very long. One thing I've noticed- for me, when I don't realize it's a dream, I have no control over what's happening. It's like I'm watching myself in a movie. Once I realize I'm dreaming, I can actually control what I'm doing and saying. But like I said, that only feels like it last for a minute or two, then I actually wake up. The human brain is something else. |

Definitely. For me, I can only do that for about 3-5 minutes before I realize and wake up. :( |

I have this happen pretty regularly...well, not like every night but you know what I mean. I've gotten to the point where I can sort of control my actions, if that makes sense. Like my cognitive abilities kick in somewhat. Really weird. |
Re: Dreams
If you do some little "reality checks" throughout the day when you're awake, you can train yourself to do it when you're sleeping. Once you realize you're dreaming, it's pretty crazy.
What works for me is checking the time on a clock or watch. During the day whenever you look at a clock, just ask yourself if you're dreaming. In a dream when you look at the time, look away, and then look back, chances are the time will be different or the numbers will be all out of order. |

Re: Dreams
I never have dreams I can recall later... My wife is one of those people that remembers every detail of her crazy dreams, I'm always jealous because it sounds like fun. I've had the dreams where I'm fighting but I can only punch in slow motion or my fist never connects right... I also have this thing where dreaming that I'm going to die is super relaxing and comforting, i have no idea why. I'm not suicidal or depressed that I know of, but if I can't fall asleep, I think of dying, usually peacefully laying down in the woods, and it relaxes me so that I can get some rest. I'd love to hear someone explain that one...

Re: Dreams
Many times when I'm dreaming and I don't like what's happening I "shake the screen" like my dream exists on an Etch-a-Sketch and start over.
I remember as a kid often times feeling like I had "left my body" and I had to find myself back to me before I woke up. Weird stuff |
