Re: ESPN week 2 Power Rankings
Hey guys! New to the board as a poster been reading for awhile thought it was about time for me to join and chime in.
Not sure what the real point of power rankings is after week 1 anyway. As we see in college football and basketball rankings mean very little especially early in the season. If they were to do such "Power Rankings" I would wait until at least week 4 that we have an idea of how everyone looks. That being said, arguing any ranking at this point really doesn't mean a whole lot. But, for the sake of the argument I guess the two that I have a problem with is Houston at #7 and the Falcons at #13. I know Houston had a big win this week against a Super Bowl contender, but the Colts lost there best defensive player early on and did have enough time to adjust schematically to patch it up. As for the Falcons, not sure why they were so high in the first place. They seem like a .500 team to me and for them to still be in the top half after losing to a Pittsburgh team that didn't have their starting quarterback seems awkward. Nevertheless, I think the ranking of the Skins is appropriate. If they turn out a similar defensive performance against the Texans then We should be vaulted into the top 10. Either way, the offense will need to produce more if we are to be a serious contender. |

Respect has to be earned and we have not done that in the past 10 yrs. |

Being eternal regular season champions is not very impressive. |

Just have to take a cue from the Colts. Keep getting to the playoffs with the leagues best player and eventually something is bound to stick. |
Re: ESPN week 2 Power Rankings
No kidding. I don't think the Colts were ready Texans to run at them like that. The Skins will have a week to prepare, plus I think they have better personnel to slow them down. Foster isn't MJD or Chris Johnson. He was just going against he right opponent on the right day.

Re: ESPN week 2 Power Rankings
LOL. So the Cowboys go to #8, but we only go up 3. Ummmm, if we beat a #8 why shouldn't we be #7 or at least moved up real far? Oh that's right, this is BSPN who has a love fest for the Cowboys.

Re: ESPN week 2 Power Rankings
well power rankings aren't linear, direct, or whatever
we'll see |
Re: ESPN week 2 Power Rankings
Skins jumped from 20 to 17 from the start of the preseason to the end and now 17 to 14 (though Clayton has them in his top 10). So that's a pretty solid jump
And you don't just jump over a team because you beat them. Did James Madison jumped over Virginia Tech because they beat them? Well that may be a bad example but you get my point. |
Re: ESPN week 2 Power Rankings
Did you even see the Jets game? The Colts have owned Houston so with just one game and one win in yrs over the Colts I see how the Colts are ranked over them.
The Jets have one of the best defenses in the entire league, the Ravens won by a point. The problem the Jets have; more so then the Hard Knocks, boys will be boys antics, load mouth coach and big names with bigger ego players, is that their QB sucks. That was absolutely clear when we played them in the preseason. I was shocked seeing how bad Sanchez was then. But i think theres a chance Sanchez gets better as time goes on, and if not theres Burnell to step in and managed games and 2 decent running backs to take pressure off him. ESPN has the Ravens as number 2 which i think is fair. So barely losing to a really good team keeps you in the top ten in my book. When you go to a casino they show the last 20 colors that won on the roulette wheel. So when you see that it just landed on black 4 times in a row you place your chip on red, even though the next spin is completely independent of spins before hand. The Texans are good and the Colts are good, just not as good as the Texans imo this year. History plays little or no part when 2 capable teams play each other imo. |
Re: ESPN week 2 Power Rankings
From what I have seen yeah, that is fair. I can see us as high as 12 also.

What I think I meant more was, their asses are constantly over rated. It's like I always say, one playoff win and here they are as the "Super Bowl rep." Come on. Not going to say they aren't a good team, but....hell IDK what I'm trying to say, F DALLAS and ESPN. |
Re: ESPN week 2 Power Rankings
