Re: Can the Redskins move back to RFK?
^ there's times when I think it's as loud as any but then there is times where the fans just don't get loud at all.. Is the stadium to big? I've never been but from what I've heard it's just not a favorable place to play.

Re: Can the Redskins move back to RFK?
Not going to happen for a multitude of reasons.
1. Dan Snyder has invested too much money into Fedex Field. 2. They have like a 30 year lease agreement with PGC to stay at Fedex, and it would cost the Skins money to break that lease 3. They left RFK because it's pretty old, and I'm pretty sure it doesn't have the luxury boxes Fedex has. 4. I'm not entirely sure but I think DC United still plays at RFK. 5. It's just not going to happen, a new stadium will get built in DC before the Skins ever move back to RFK.
All these are true. But your #1 point he has a lot invested because he when he bought the team they already had moved to FedEX. He has invested money to make the stadium better. But i do think he caused a lot of the opposing fans getting in by selling a lot of tickets to brokers who sell tixs to anyone. |
Re: Can the Redskins move back to RFK?
Back when this team was at RFK, they were winning on a consistent basis. The new generation fans didn't have the luxury of being able to watch this team during its glory years. I would imagine in today's economy and the recent history of this team, fans generally probably don't care much for going to watch the Redskins play. Lord knows I don't have the money to shell out for season tickets (nor do I live close enough to attend all the home games.)

Re: Can the Redskins move back to RFK?
the game day experience since Snyder took over is horrible.
Traffic getting to the game is horrid Tickets are expensive Food is expensive Parking is expensive Traffic leaving the game is horrid The juice isn't worth the squeeze to go watch a team the is barely over .500 at home in the past 14 seasons...just not worth it. |

Id pay more if we had a constantly winning team. |

absolutely. |
Re: Can the Redskins move back to RFK?
^^Winning does cure everything.
Silly thread. The problem was on the field and in the front office, not the stadium or home field (dis)advantage. Year after year of terrible drafts and player acquisitions combined with suspect coaching staffs is to blame. The problem has been fixed...now it will just take time. Do Redskins fans have the patience to wait a year or two? Probably not. |
Re: Can the Redskins move back to RFK?
I don't know....
They spent the last 13 yrs in Maryland and since this is supposed to be the Metro Politan "AREA" or as the newbies like to call it DMV, then one would think it only fair to have it in Virginia for 10 to 15 yrs before moving back to DC. :) fairs fair. So...... I'm lobbying for Virginia to be the next place. |
It's always the team first...but I do think that our fans are very fickle, I know I am as well. I need things to make me excited, and when stuff starting going poorly, I tend to just get negative and mad, as I think a lot of people at the stadium do as well... I think that sometimes goes down and does have an affect on the team.
I disagree with that. Over the years, when things start to go bad, this team seems to NEVER be able to overcome it and over time, it has whore on the fans. Seriously, who can blame us for getting discouraged when things start going south. |
Re: Can the Redskins move back to RFK?
Once they start winning again is when you will see home field advantage show it's face again. Unfortunately most fans are fair weather fans.

Re: Can the Redskins move back to RFK?
On a more serious note....lol. Rumor is DS is gealous of JJ's new stadium, on top of that I thought the lease on FedEx was at the point where he could opt out if he wanted to or stay another 10 yrs? and lastly the second part to the rumor was he wanted to move back to DC and have a retractable dome. So the team could play inside in bad weather and or open it up in good weather plus he would be able to host a SB more easily.
Will it happen? Who knows. I guess it's all up to whatever deal DC decides to make and how much they are willing to spend. |

Well a lot has changed that has fueled the "Fair Weather Fan." Players used to be "Loyal" to the team. The team used to be "Loyal" to the player. and... Fans used to be "Loyal" to both team and player. Except sometime during the late 80's players started switching teams at the drop of a hat. Mostly looking for a better paycheck. Then the NFLPA was started and players demanded more money. Greed fed both players and owners and in the end players will go wherever the money is, owners will either be cheap and let the player go or pay the player and raise the ticket prices the following year to cover the cost. The fans have been forgotten. To everyone else it's about money but to the fans all thats left is to enjoy a "good" team. Well the Skins ever since Gibbs1 have not fielded a decent team. Norv made the play offs once. Gibbs2 made it twice. So go figure as to why there are "Fair weather Fans." Oh did I mention the fact that ticket prices keep getting more expensive each year and the fans see nothing in return but a mediocre team? |
Because I'm that bored, here is our record at FedEx
97- 5-2-1 98- 4-4 99- 6-2 99- 1-0 (playoffs) 00 -4-4 01-4-4 02-5-3 03-3-5 04-3-5 05-6-2 06-2-6 07-5-3 08-4-4 09-3-5 10-2-4 So after today, we're 57-53-1.
That number is only substantial if compared to our record on the road during that time period. If you're bored again Gman, could you run those numbers? |

Take the opposite of the home record. |
