McNabb cost Reid alot of big games...no doubt about it. Seeing this year that a still semi-rusty Michael Vick takes the team to the playoffs when he didnt even start the first couple of games says to me that they definatley have a great chance at a superbowl. Andy Reid is a much better coach and talent evaluator than what people give him credit for.
-McNabb and Reid won a lot of games together and went to 5 NFC Championships and a SB, that's a great run. I think they both have to share some blame for not winning it all.

-Nothing rusty about Vick this year, he was in the MVP hunt for most of it.

-Vick was starting by week 2.
Andy Reid is a damn good football coach. One thing I like about him is he seems to be able to relate and communicate with his players. They seem to respect him. He knows when to put a foot in their ass and he knows when to lay off. Not to mention he's done great things with Vick and McNabb. I've always liked him a lot. So far, from the one year I've seen from Shanahan, I'm just not that impressed with the guy. Right now, I'm taking Reid over Shanahan.
It will not be handed to Shanahan this time, he'll have to earn it. We'll see if he makes the grade.

Andy Reid is a top notch coach. I swear, if he left Philly today and we were without a coach, I'd sign him this afternoon.

Give Reid the Redskins and I think we would see the same ol Redskins IMO. Which one of us if given the choice would chose to coach a team like the Redskins over any other team?

Its going to take a monumental effort to change the Redskins not just a matter of plugging the holes on O Line or anywhere else. Shanny has got to do the impossible, and thus far nobody since Gibbs has been able to win with this team including Gibbs himself on his return. (This list is long)

Reid has had more than enough time and opportunity with the Eagles. No reasonable comparison can be made between them. And Shanny has not been given enough time to change the culture of the Redskins, if he can.

Not to change this thread around but this is why I think Gibbs 1 was one of the best ever. He did it with three different average QB's. No Elway or Young...Theismann, Williams/ Schroeder and Rypien. You simply will never ever ever see that again in the history of the NFL. Reid got the most out of McNabb with some average wr's. If we keep McNabb then I want to see them coach him up and get him to play better.

True. He needs more time. But so far in his one year, I think he's made some bad moves, both on the coaching front and front office stuff.

I know we're partial as 'skins fans, but I wonder if people really, truly, realized how great of a coach Joe Gibbs was? Of course, let's not forget that he had a great general manager and staff in the front office to help him along the way. Even though he wasn't "great" in his second tenure, seeing that he was able to get two decent playoff seasons out of this team, something that no other Redskins coach has been able to do since Gibbs left the first time (took Norv about six or seven years for one), I would dare to say is it ever possible to have this team winning like it did in the 80's without making even more changes in the F.O.? I mean, we do have Bruce Allen, but his thing seems to be negotiating contracts. Wished he could have a partner who was great at focusing on player acquisitions.

I will take Reid if I am also getting the entire Eagles front office operation. I like the way they do things. Plus Reid is younger then Shanny and could stay longer. However, if all I am getting is Reid alone then I will stick with Shanny.
Reid and the Eagles wasted McNabb in his prime by not giving him good receivers (until TO), running TO out of town, and not getting a good short yardage/goal line running game. I think at best, they have two years to get to the big game...probably just one more though it seemed like the only way they won was by getting Vick beat up.
Sorry but TO ran himself out of town. I'm no Eagles fan but if I'm correct they are a pretty young team.

What i meant by Vick being semi-rusty, was that he had not taken any work as the starting QB through training camp, and he didn't have a full body of offseason work as starter. That being said, he played phenomenally well when he got his chance, and he can only go up from here. I didnt really word my comment correctly.

Some good points on this thread. I think you have to give Reid a lot of credit, you don't win that much for that long by luck.

At the same time, as pointed out by celts32, the iggles have had a sound biz plan over the past decade. Also, Jim Johnson was a big part of their success. They obviously weren't happy w/the D after he passed, firing Mcdermott.

I am not sure of what to make of the eagles now, Vick will likely not have a year like 2010 again, and the team seems to lack the identity & leadership it had when Dawkins, Trotter & McNabb were there. I could see them slipping or taking a big step forward.

I don't think it's worth much to compare Shanny & Reid, but like Matty said I'm sure Shanny is taking note of this comment. So that's good for us.

I am happy for Vick as much as I can be for any Iggle, but I really disagree w/this. If he plays near his 2010 level, the team will be in every game. I just don't think he can have that great a year again. The main thing I expect to see is more turnovers, even if he plays well otherwise.

I think Vick in 2010 was like Farve in 2009. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if he has a frustrating 2011 & throws more crucial picks. The main reason I question Vick as a long-term answer is his health; what he brings in excitement has a downside w/his injuries.

Not to mention the best defensive coordinator in the history of the NFL!

But IMO what this organization is truly missing is a true, hard core personel man. Someone who will go to Arkansas Pine Bluff and find a diamond in the ruff like a Monte Coleman. Or go to Idaho and find a Mark Schlereth. Until we get that then it's just going to be the same old same old.

TO ran himself out of town once they wouldn't pay him. However, he made that team better right away, he was at his prime then. The Eagles didn't have a good WR threat until they got D. Jackson.

The Eagles are a young team at the skills position except QB. I guess it all depends on Vick's health, I say this because he was beat up in that playoff game. If Vick lasts at QB, then the Eagles would be a contender. But I feel that he was pretty beat up as the season ended.
