Just as Stephen Davis played out his 10 year 100 million dollar contract(How much we 'Skins fans loved Stephen Davis)? Maybe that's the problem with our front office. We bite off other teams' trade bait and lose valuable trade picks and never come up with our own. And lose stars like Smoot and Davis to free agency.

I remember back when we went our our big restricted free agent blitz when we got Coles, Hall, Thomas, etc., the WP had a very detailed article about the Redskins plan of attack, and I do remember them mentioning that Snyder had extensive cap spreadsheets of 3-year projections and he worked closely with those projections when he structured the contracts to ensure they were staying under the cap.

OK. As I said before, Marshall and Clemons filled in admirably in Arrington's absense. As did Feeley and Detmer did for PHI when McNabb was hurt. Just as Marshall, Clemons, Detmer, and Feeley all benefited from being in a system that plays to thier own strengths, realisticly, none of these guys aren't near franchise caliber personnel. We finally have a coach (Williams) and a system with core guys that need not an all-world, top-of-league-contract LB. Follow me? :oink:

I know we all love to speculate in the off-season, but I'm taking the stance that we are seriously stacked on the team for the next few years. Yes, a few free agent acquistions/draft picks to upgrade, NOT replace. I heard somewhere that if the Redskins were to have scored 23 more points this year, that their record would have been 10+ wins. I don't think that turning over the roster AGAIN is going to add those 23 points.

This is where I feel that an added WR/OL/DE is going to make a world of difference, not trading our best linebacker.

Bottom line:

Arrington isn't going anywhere, neither is Portis or Coles.

#1, Unless you're cleaning house due to cap reasons why would you trade your stars?

#2, with their contracts they are virtually untradeable, unless you want to bury the team with massive cap hits.

End of story.

Any way we could find to trade LA for a ton of draft picks would, IMO, be a great move. Just like the cowboys did with Herschel Walker to get the picks that essentially built their championship team.
