Re: Snow? 2012
some folks are really feeling the squeeze with no snow, like snow plow folks who count on that money.

[/quote] Meh. They had a monster season 2 years ago. Charging people 1500-2500 in my home town to plow their driveways so they could get out. If you live in the VA area and expect snow to be a significant amount of your income, you probably aren't the sharpest tool in the shed. We typically don't get too much snow. |

I live just north of B-more and I think quite a few depend on it a least a little bit. |
Re: Snow? 2012
One of my favorite things about moving from NY to the deep south was never having to shovel snow again or scrape ice off of the car.

Re: Snow? 2012
no more snow until after the elections

Re: Snow? 2012
I have mixed thoughts on snow, on one hand I really enjoy snowboarding, which probably wouldn't be possible without it (not sure if the resort I went to and plan on going back to has those snow making machines) but I can't stand it when it happens in NoVa. Hate shoveling snow, hate scraping ice off the car, hate missing work/going out when a large snowstorm hits. If we didn't get any in NoVa this year I'd be fine with it, but I'd still hope that WV gets some so that I can go snowboarding again in a couple weeks lol.

Where did you live in NY? |
Re: Snow? 2012
This reminds me of last winter (We got snowed in for a week in Atlanta last year).

Re: Snow? 2012
I never figured out why so many people in our area rush out to shovel snow around their home. It snows one day and is gone two days later. I have only shoveled snow once around here and that was last year when we got a foot of snow and I only shovled it off around the office.

What I think is funny is when people at work wish to be snowed in (because our office closes for bad weather) and then when they do get snowed in, they shovel themselves out so they can head up the road to go shopping. If you're going to do that, you can go to work! For me, I live on a hill, and my driveway is mostly gravel right now, so shoveling really doesn't help. Needless to say, I make sure I have plenty of snacks, drink, PS3 games, and movies to watch. I'm not going anywhere. |
Re: Snow? 2012
I am in Stephens City/Winchester Area. It will not snow here this year. We had everything we were gonna get back in October. It has been staying too warm, last week was in the upper 60's here, and even next week is going to be in the 50's again. There is no chance it snows at those temperatures. The only chance we have now is if it gets cold in February, which is unlikely because i feel like we dont have all these 60 degree days just disappear. We are most likely done. I see a few more weeks of colder weather, and then it's gonna be gone. I mean this is no joke, We have flowers coming up in our yard and 2 mornings ago I saw a groundhog out walking around, so yeah, spring is here pretty soon.

Re: Snow? 2012
I remember last year having some nice 60 degree days in December, then we got walloped the rest of the winter with cold and snow. Don't underestimate Mother Nature, she can turn flat out bitch at the drop of a hat. :)

It's supposed to be 16* tonight (I'm about 45 minutes south of you). That doesn't sound like Spring to me! |
Damn I was hoping to go the whole year with none. Hopeful this didn't pop the winter's witch's cherry.

Re: Snow? 2012
I'm getting some light snow today, an inch or two.
