I know I for one think he can be a solid rb, most likely a backup, but I know I'm personally tired of all the hype built up around this guy after an often injured season 2 years ago and not a thing since because of his off the field issues.
as far as him pulling out of this thing after commiting, it's only gonna drop him further in the eyes of the personel guys as far as his maturity and character, which unfortunately in about 95% of pro sports doesn't mean jack if that same jerk-off is an incredible athlete. if the skins even think about drafting this guy it better not be with a pick before the 6th round.

I don't wish Clarett any ill will - I hope he has a long and productive career. I just doubt it is going to happen. The reason this thread was started was that (again) Maurice Clarett backed out of a predraft commitment where he could showcase his skills. The reason listed doesn't seem to be particularly valid - this course apparently makes "Battle of the Network Stars" look like boot camp (shout out joke for old people!). It seems more likely that Clarett, after a year of inactivity, doesn't want a direct comparison to draft-eligible athletes who are in playing shape. Nothing particularly wrong with that notion, but it is indicitive of a "me-first" attitude that he is accused of having.

Off the top of your head, name 5 players with similar attitudes that are elite in this league.

I got Moss, and his team appears to be willing to trade him.

Now try to name five talented players whose attitudes have kept them from succeeding.

It's a little bit easier, isn't it?

That was precisely the point I was trying to make. No one put a gun to Clarett's head to make him accept his invitation to participate; he accepted that on his own. Then, he changed his mind - or weasled out if you prefer. Thank you for understanding.


For the record, a few other college players who might just get an early mention in the upcoming draft actually did take part in this skills competition including:

Aaron Rodgers (possibly the first QB to be taken and MAYBE the first player taken overall by SF)

Carnell (Cadillac) Willilams (one of the first three RBs to be taken)

Braylon Edwards (projected by some to be the first WR taken)


Somehow, they did not have any fear of injury here. How stupid can they be?
