Vikings have a lease on their stadium through 2010/1011 season so moving them before that could be dicey.

IF the league really wants a team in LA, they ought to be able to handle this prior to the 2011 season.

Personally, I think the league really does NOT want a team in LA. They want LA to be that "big market where a stadium might be built to take a team " and use that as a lever to get new stadiums built for existing teams in places like Minnesota and Louisiana and Indy (already done) and Arizona (already done) and San Diego (already done).

Good point. LA is to the NFL as Washington was to baseball - the threatened move of any and all teams looking to extort taxpayer funds for a stadium. The collapse of the Expos made DC almost impossible to say no to, but opposition to Vegas as the new "dream location" is fading as we speak...

MTK 02-02-2005 12:14 PM

LA is just too big of a market for the NFL to ignore. They want a franchise in LA to SUCCEED, which going by history isn't likely to happen no matter how hard they try.

TheMalcolmConnection 02-02-2005 01:20 PM

I'd love to see Vegas get some professional sports teams.

MTK 02-02-2005 02:07 PM

Speaking of Vegas I'm getting married there in April, first time to Vegas. Any hot spots you guys recommend? Sights to see, etc.?

Pussycats, ask for Jade....you might want to see her before you get married, don't want you getting into any trouble with Mrs. Warpath

MTK 02-02-2005 02:14 PM

Crazy as it may sound I'm looking for hot spots that don't involve strippers, just not in to that scene anymore.

TheMalcolmConnection 02-02-2005 02:18 PM

You'll have to let me know how it goes, my girlfriend and I have been thinking about that as a possible wedding location.

MTK 02-02-2005 02:25 PM

They have great deals for weddings, a heck of a lot cheaper than doing a traditional one.

We're bringing our close family and friends and we're going to make a big party out of it!

Jade is not just any stripper....but if you're looking for something else it's kind of cool to check out the old strip,Ballys Las Vegas has some decent blackjack tables, Paris Las Vegas is a nice hotel with a good brunch. The New York-New York Hotel and Casino has some rides on the roof, I think.

And if you like Laser Tag, there's a LT park just outside Vegas, near UNLV if I remember right.

TheMalcolmConnection 02-02-2005 02:50 PM

Yeah, I'm looking for something non-traditional too. Our family is a big group of party animals so we have to do something involving debauchery.

I agree, but this litte mention from the St. Louis Post Dispatch is interesting, though it seems really farfetched:
Here's a peculiar nugget from Tom Jensen's NASCAR column on SpeedTV.com:

"And speaking of stick-and-ball sports, the official Media Tour Rumor That Refuses To Die is that NASCAR Chairman Brian France is trying to buy an NFL team. Specifically, multiple sources close to the situation claim France and Rupert Murdoch's son are trying to buy the St. Louis Rams and move the team back to Los Angeles.

"Asked about it on the opening day of the media tour, France's comment was, 'We've got a deep-structured team anyway, but I'm not planning to go anywhere, and that's really the extent of anything I could comment to.' Many in attendance took that as a blanket denial, but we'll have to wait and see. Right now, it's a rumor, but it's coming from so many different sources and different directions that it's hard to believe there isn't at least some fire where there's so much smoke.''
