Re: MMQ: King Criticizes 'Skins' Offseason Moves
yeah.. patten was the 4th reciever...thats bullshit, he started 11 games, he wasnt behind troy brown and hasnt been in 2 years. he ended up being #2 last season on a super bowl winning team. what a dumbass. perrineal disspointment moss? guess a 1100 yard year is a dissapointment, and man its so dissapointing when u only get 850 yards one year after that when ur QB got hurt. yeah...

I was just reading the rest of the article, of course he loves Pierce going to the Giants, but if we matched that deal I'd bet he would blast us for overpaying for a guy who had one good year. |
Re: MMQ: King Criticizes 'Skins' Offseason Moves
If Patten was the #4 WR he was one of the most productive #4's in NFL history, LOL
800 yards and 7 scores, damn I'll take that from my #4 anyday! |
Re: MMQ: King Criticizes 'Skins' Offseason Moves
He also said that he likes Trent Dilfer as a backup and Holcomb as a starter.
Umm....didn't Trent Dilfer win a Super Bowl? What has Holcomb done? |
i dont know what happend with Dr.Z, but i wont even ask....lol
Nothing in particular, he's just an even more rabid anti-Skin than King (which is saying something). If we won 4 Superbowl's in a row and consistently had $10M in cap space, Z would simply say that competition in the league has been at a low point, we weren't really a dynasty b/c no good teams are around and, obviously, we are just running things on the cheap and getting lucky. |

"No team in the NFL but the Cowboys can say they've added four players who all have a chance to make the Pro Bowl." Bledsoe to the Pro Bowl? With those receivers? |

Undoubtedly, if it had been the Skins making these signings, we would be overpaying for unproven or overaged talent and been setting ourselves up for salary cap hell. |

With those receivers?
LOL how about Jason Ferguson?! Dude's been in the league for 8 years now and hasn't made the Pro Bowl, his season high for tackles is 52, his season high for sacks is 4.5, yet somehow King thinks:
"Jason Ferguson should make at least one Pro Bowl while with the Cowboys."
Really Peter, why? How about this quote, tell me we don't get blasted for being the same way, yet somehow he's praising Dallas for it
What the Cowboys did, particularly with Ferguson and Rivera, shows how valuable a strong owner willing to spend available cap money and a coach with clout can be.
LOL, whatever |
Re: MMQ: King Criticizes 'Skins' Offseason Moves
Emphasis added:
Undoubtedly, if it had been the Skins making these signings, we would be overpaying for unproven or overaged talent and been setting ourselves up for salary cap hell.
Two of the four "superstars" he's praising have scrupuluously avoided Pro Bowl Status, Rivera has a history of leg injuries, and Bledsoe will be in his fourth offense in four years. They also average over 30 years of age, which makes the long term investment in them... puzzling. |
Re: MMQ: King Criticizes 'Skins' Offseason Moves
"Other than Peyton Manning, no NFL player will make as much cash in 2004"
?? Looking at my calendar it says we're already in 2005. I'm guessing this was a typo What bothered me most about that column was finding out that one of my fave former Redskins, Todd Bowles, is now the Cowboys secondary coach. |

I agree completely. Todd Bowles is now dead to me. |
Re: MMQ: King Criticizes 'Skins' Offseason Moves
On Patten, I can only point to his very own words at his press conference:
He was asked if he expected to see more passes come his way after spending the last four seasons in a New England Patriots passing offense that seemed to spread the ball around. "It's not about me--it's not about one individual," Patten replied. "In New England, we all wanted to catch 10 balls a game, but it made us a better team and a better offense when a defense had to come in and prepare for all of us. "You'll have to excuse me...I'm a little sensitive about that topic because I feel that [the New England wide receivers corps] didn't get the respect I believe we deserved. We were a very hard-working receiver corps and we felt like we could put our talent up against anyone. We felt like we had four No. 1 receivers--but we always put the team before any personal goals." THAT's the kind of player we want, PUT THE TEAM BEFORE PERSONAL GOALS. I'm fully confident that Patten could have put up some sick numbers if he was a focal point of the offense, but the Pats spread the ball around. If Peter King wants to suggest that we're better off with a selfish prick like Coles instead of a team player like Patten, he can lick my baloon knot. |

Re: MMQ: King Criticizes 'Skins' Offseason Moves
I am no King fan much like everyone else here, but I tend to agree with him here. Our WR corp for next year the way it looks is shaky to say the least. Patten is an average player and Moss has been a dissapointment his whole career. I just hope that we add a WR in the draft who can be a legitimate #1 then these guys will look a little better when asked to be a #2 or #3 WR.

Re: MMQ: King Criticizes 'Skins' Offseason Moves
OK, you guys know how Peter King is always talkin about his daughters in his columns and how they're always playing softball and crap? Well we have to make it our collective mission here at the Warpath for some of us, one of us, any of us; to find out where Mary Beth King goes to college, pay a visit, get her loaded, hook up with her, and then write in to Peter telling him all about our tale of conquest.
