I dont remember it like that,I had a great time growing up there.Rode our bikes everywhere, had Sudley pool{now a waterpark}within a mile, tennis and basketball courts next to it.Or we could ride our bikes a mile or so past Sudley to Bull Run Creek, cross creek and go to that pool,I thought it was a great place to live

My Dad lived there for a few years, didn't seem like a bad place to live at all. I always got a kick outta how everything is named Bull Run.

I lived in Southern VA all my life. The way people talk down in Southside depends upon the education level. My dad is very southern/country when he speaks. He'll say something like, "Thems beans are right tasty, bet they cost right smart!" He's not "book smart" or highly educated, but he is pretty smart with mechanics and electronics.

Most locals don't hear an accent from me, or either accuse me of being a transplant. I usually tend to speak properly, but my accent is more prominent if I'm around a bunch of people who are not from Southern VA.

I have relatives that live there, co-workers that lived there, and when I was growing up in Northern VA, we had students who moved from there. There was a reason why they all moved, and one of the main consensus reasons was because of how 'awful' it was to live there. If you all didn't have that strip of just restaurants and shops (the name of that road escapes me right now), I feel like that town would be a zombie town.

Powhatan and Chester (not Chesterfield) people are the worse. Richmond isn't that bad.

Also most people in the business world with a southern accent down here seem to be females. Im guessing a female with a southern accent can come across as cute in a male dominated industry. A guy just comes across as redneck.

Something that drives me nuts is when someone says "do what now" as opposed to "sorry I missed that" or "excuse me" or "what did you say" or another normal reply when they didn't hear exactly what you said.

Me: "what are you doing for lunch?"

Response in southern accent: "do what now?"

Sometimes ill just stare at them and think about how I want to hit them. Drives f'n me nuts.

You wanna see zombie towns take a drive through Arkansas sometime. It makes Manassas look like a booming metropolis.

Manassas isnt that bad, it was kinda the more rural area of northern va (which imo is a nice break from all the f*cking strip malls of louden, fairfax).

Went back to that area for to a bed and breakfest for a wedding a couple years ago. really a pretty area

been told i dont have an accent, except for saying yall.

Native Virginian here and I don't speak as Moe does. Sounds to my ear like Moe has a thick Virginia country accent with a twinge of West Virginia added.
He's probably the type of friend that would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it.
