Re: Let's face it. Our WRs are set...
Another thing about the CB position, I think we are set for this year with Springs/Harris, with Wilds at nickleback, but it would be great if we could do similar to what the Eagles did and have a couple young guys ready to take over for Springs and Harris in a year or a couple. I think Wilds may be one of those guys, and if we draft a CB in round 1 or 2, we'll have the other.

Re: Let's face it. Our WRs are set...
We're going with Edwards or Williams if they're on the board. Gamechanging receivers. Gibbs says McCants is still there, but I think it's a ploy so people don't think we go receiver. There's a reason McCants didn't play last year. As Gmanc said we don't have a #1 receiver. I don't see Moss as a #1, and Jacobs is too unproven. Patten still has a lot to show too. We need a bigtime receiver, and though they can be busts, they can also pay huge dividends. Lets give Ramsey someone young he can grow with so one day the Williams/Jacobs package is envied by all!

Re: Let's face it. Our WRs are set...
If the Redskins are stupid enough to pick a cornerback with the #9 overall pick then they truly are idiots. I don't think Joe Gibbs would be that stupid.

Do you really think Alex Smith (TE Stanford) is going to be around in the third round? If he is, that might be the biggest steal of the day. I know folks here love the kid from UVa, but I think Alex Smith is at least as good and definitely has better hands...
I don't know if he is. But we do pick early in that round and the observed talent 'below' Heath Miller falls off pretty steeply. In other words, there maybe higher rated players at other position that teams may covet. :oink: |

If you're stupid enough for this to be your first post you are one too. :oink: |

I like that idea. Hopefully we wouldnt have to do it like the Eagles did. If we could gradually work them in. That is the cheapest way to go. |
I'm curious... so if Williams was available with out #1 pick would you pass him up?
I assume we're talking about Troy Williamson. The answer is yes. We have already addressed our starting WR corps. Sorry for the dose of reality. :oink: |

That's the plan. Springs and Harris are very capable, but you can't ignore thier ages. Wilds and Jimoh will probably battle for the dime spot. :oink: |
Re: Let's face it. Our WRs are set...
He means Mike Williams.
Here's a "dose of reality" for you, Bosshog. Our receivers are unproven and need to be worked on. For all we know Moss may walk after this year, Patten has only ever been a #4 in a good offense, Jacobs hasn't seen the field, we've seen what thrash does as a starter, and McCants until I [b]see{/b] otherwise is still in Gibbs doghouse. If we have a chance to get Edwards or Williams - take it. No need to draft a #2 we have four of those. CB isn't a huge concern, though it should be addressed in the near future. We have lots of young guys with talent that our coaching staff wants to look at. |

I wouldn't be so sure about that. The Browns are going to release Lavars buddy Cortny Brown and we might get him at D.E. (You heard it here first) Then we could draft a WR or CB. Just a thought. Gibbs did say yesterday that we still could sign some released players. :pi_lightb |
Re: Let's face it. Our WRs are set...
Anyone we draft is also unproven.....
Don't forget...we've gotten screwed in the past for getting the "Cream of the crop" WR from the draft: Desomond Howard, Michael Westbrook |

Yes we laid an egg with the contract of Brunell but fared much better with Portis. My question to you is what has Mike Williams proven other than his slow ass 40 times? This is Gibbs way. Not mine. :oink: |

Are we ready for draft day or what?! :oink:
