Re: Giants Game Plus and Minus
Against similarly skilled teams, if you win the turnover battle you typically win the game. We did that. Cousins still missed on some reads/passes but he didn't turn it over and hit a big play to Jackson. Big improvement from week. Hope this helps get his confidence back.
In the red zone, we get too cute/complex. I feel like the types of plays/formations change way too much when we get down there. Keep it simple stupid. Feel terrible for Hall. That's the worst negative. The 2nd is, the eagles look great. They smashed Pittsburgh. Beat Cleveland. |
Re: Giants Game Plus and Minus
I'd rather have Trent at LT and activate Kouandjio to take over LG while Long takes C. That is if both Lauvao and Kory are out this week.
We don't have a great LG, but we've got 3 OK ones. Kouandjio isn't bad. |

Re: Giants Game Plus and Minus
As amazing as Trent was at LG, I don't think he'll stay there because it is so important to protect the QB's blind side. Also, it would leave us without a backup swing OT on the bench.
I guess they'll move Long to LG if Kory can play and Lauvao can't or Long to C if Kory can't play but Lauvao can. If both Kory and Lauvao are out, they'll probably go with Long at C and Kouandjio at LG.
Thanks, clearer now. I still think we really need a center. Neither Kory nor Long are agressive enough at the point of attack, in the running game. Does anyone have an idea of who could be a good fit next year (draft, FA, trade ...) ? |
Re: Giants Game Plus and Minus
t willy at guard reminded me of pop warner; we had a few kids on the team who rarely got to play. when we were up big we would let them run the ball.
we would plug our biggest hitters (usually our top 3 rbs, sometimes our qb, too) in at center and both guard spots, me and the other tackle would stay in our spots. we would create pretty good wholes and let the slow chubby kids carry the rock for a couple yards. it was awesome to see how happy it made them. |
Re: Giants Game Plus and Minus
Honestly, I wouldnt mind seeing Trent stay at LG w Ty moving to LT .. just for the browns game. Credit to Callahan for having these back up guys ready and credit to Scot and staff for finding capable young depth. When players are getting plucked from your PS (reiter), its a good problem to have.
Could you imagine our inside run game ... just one game, id like to see it. |

I hate this place. Even for a layover.

Trent 1v1 against Harrison and manhandles him. Harrison fires off the snap (I think Harrison was worried and felt he had to) but Trent catches him and twists him back. He still made the tackle but after Jones gets 3 yards. The best part about it is the next play, the 3rd and 1, Harrison switches sides! He didn't want any of Trent. The next play Hankins just dives at Trent's knees and Trent pushes him flat. He didn't want any either. With Long or Lavau those would have been 2 yard losses. I realize pass pro is a concern with Nsekhe at LT but I believe the best players should be on the field. Do you all really think the line with Kouandjio at LG would be better than the line we saw at the end of the game Sunday? I don't. |
Re: Giants Game Plus and Minus
Kirk was really good
OL was great again WRs made plays as did Reed. Run game got going JNO is a monster dunbar is good. Minuses P.Smith.. Where has he been??? Bad clock mgt again |
Re: Giants Game Plus and Minus
If they don't feel comfortable with Kouandjo at G. They will put TW at guard vs the Browns. That's a guarantee.
Ty is not a guard. TW is versatile enough to play G. He also knows the offense better. This is all dependent on Koundjo though. I mentioned before the year started that in 2 or so years. TW needs to consider moving to guard. But that's not today. |

He had a flashy pre-season, but since... Good thing Trent Murphy is doing a pretty good job! I actually think, if we get better at D-line next year, our defense will work WAAAY better, even without any big improvement on other positions. Disrupting the run game start there, and with more pressure on the QB, pass defense will be just fine. |
Re: Giants Game Plus and Minus
The biggest plus of em all is that they won.
The biggest minus to me is that once again they had to score in the 29 points just to squeak out a W. This team is going to have a hard time competing with this defense forcing the offense to light up the scoreboard each week. |
Re: Giants Game Plus and Minus
Plus:
Jameson 'Boyd' Crowder is a bad assistan. When we needed it most he came through Saw something vaguely familiar to me...the QB instead of passing the ball gave the ball to this big dude standing behind and that dude ran with the ball...must be a new concept Jay is trying Out Chris Baker getting fired up and saying something...sometimes all it takes is 1 dude to give damn to get the others going....and as depleted as the defense is they need every spark they can get Quinton Dunbar Ben Kotwica+Tres Way Su'a- but stop playing with my emotions and just start the dude....all he does is make plays Kirk and the passing game moving the ball and allowing the blueprint to work Captalizing on the Gmens eff ups |

He would also be our best G and he would probably be our best C, too. It's too bad we can't clone him four times (Just a joke, Trent). That said, where do you play him? You play him at LT. There is no question of that. To win in this league, you must keep edge rushers off of your QB, particularly from the blind side. LT is the second most valuable position in NFL, behind only the QB position. He will start at LT against Cleveland. |

Silverback is atheletic and quick enough to play guard. |
