He would.

They found no trade partner, so he was just released.

Would not be surprised it there is a decent amount of interest from multiple teams

Should be. No team was going to trade him, knowing we would cut him.

Wish him well.

Hoping the release now means another signing is imminent. I might have expect some team to make a lowball draft pick offer so that they lock him in instead of now negotiating with all other interested teams. Little disappointed by that.

He'll have offers, but pretty sure nobody wants to pay him $16 mil a year anymore. Hope he lands with a good team that isn't in the division.

Wish we got some sort of pick for him. That's a shame.

Allen got a 3 year, 60 million deal with Vikings. Wish him well.

Well, if we held on to him another year and he hit free agency and someone paid him 20m a year, we would have gotten a compensatory pick.
Losing him sucks, particularly with lesser talent but I guess his recent run defense into the pff 40s did him in here. 40s is easy to replicate at least. Really loved this guy. Thanks for holding our defense together until we came out on top Jon! Thank you! And good wishes but bad luck in Minnesota!

Does anyone know if losing someone to free agency on one year deals are eligible for compensoratory picks? I am curious on Chinn, or even Brown. We really need some picks

If Chinn and Brown's contract expired, then they are considered Compensatory Free Agents (CFA) that count towards the team getting compensatory picks. I'm thinking Cornelius Lucas would also count, since his contract expired as well. Of course Jon Allen wouldn't count, since the team cut him.

That would be offset by any CFAs we signed. I believe Kinlaw's contract with the Jets ended, so us signing him would offset any CFAs we lost. I believe Will Harris was also a CFA we signed from New Orleans.
