Re: Punter
You guys remember that lean year several years ago when we had Reggie Roby? God rest his soul, he was the best player on our team that year! The man was in a class all of his own. I swear I saw him punt one time and the football went so high up in the air, that it ricocheted off of an American airlines plane, back down on the field. The punt coverage was sitting down having a cup of tea while they waited for the football to come back into the Earth's atmosphere! LOL!!!
I remember Reggie Roby! Didn't he routinely get like a 5-5.5 second hangtime or something ludicrous like that? You know it's a dark year when the most exciting plays revolve around your punters hangtime. |
Re: Punter
Roby and that Timex. That was hilarious.

Re: Punter
Punters are even lower on the list of important players than kickers. My bet is that we will keep Frost until the end of the season and then he will be gone. We will have a new guy next year.
groom can hold, he did hold, they complimented him on it. I don't see how holding can be that big a deal... couldn't ramsey or campbell do it?
It's not like we actually kick any field goals, anyway. |
Re: Punter
Frost is ranked 27th in the NFL in total punting. His average punt is 40.50 and net average is 36.7. The NFL's best punter is 46.7 and net average is 39.50 a net difference of alittle less than 3 yards. He is about average of punts inside the 20 yard line. His numbers are about average and there is just a few yards seperating all punters.

The reason his numbers look average is because our offense stalls towards midfield, and he punts from around the 40. When he has to punt from deeper in out territory he hits 35 to 37 yarders. His numbers are blouted due to the fact he generally punts from just inside midfield. Watch the next game and see when he punts from inside the 40 or 30, the other team will get the ball on their 40, atleast. |

Re: Punter
Groom isn't an experienced holder that's why he was let go. Bryan Barker can still boot it though. He punted the ball 60 yards at least teice against us at STL. Oh well.
