I've always felt Wynn is better suited to playing end in a 3-4 scheme rather than a 4-3, and the same can probably be said of Daniels. In this scenario, where the Skins get Wilfork, he would clearly be the monster in the middle, and Cornelius Griffin could actually move to end in the 3-4.

I think Arrington and Washington would be awesome as OLBs in the 4-backer set, with Mitchell and Barrow providing the solid run-stopping duo in the middle. The only problem would be depth at MLB. They'd need another MLB option along with Clifton Smith to provide relief to the aging vets.

Of course, the real question is if Trotter and next year's #2 would be enough to obtain a pick high enough to nab Wilfork this year. I don't know if that's enough ammo. The only way Trotter draws a decent trade offer is if he comes to some kind of preliminary contract agreement with his next team, reducing his salary numbers and cap hit.

I think Mitchell qualifies for the "Veteran Cap Exemption", so he only counts $480K against the cap ($455K salary + $25K bonus). I also think the Skins will keep him.

I think we might do something a bit suprising on draft day. No idea what, but with the way skins offseasons go, we'll do something crazy.

I don't like the idea of dealing Smoot, either. The depth at cornerback is just too tenuous, due to the injury status of Springs, Harris and Brown. Williams' defensive scheme is going to rely heavily on tight coverage by the corners, and Smoot and Springs are really the only two corners on this roster that I would feel even remotely comfortable putting on an island.

If the Skins are eyeing D'Angelo Hall, and can obtain a pick high enough to grab him by trading Smoot and Trotter, then that might be a move worth making, as Smoot will certainly be looking for big bucks next year. Hall is the only rookie corner I would feel comfortable with as a replacement for Smoot-- maybe Dunta Robinson. But Hall has been projected going as high as #7, so even Smoot and Trotter might not be enough to get that high of a pick-- in [i]this[/i] draft, at least.

Is there hope that Smoot will be a redskin next season??? I think he is a true skin, a vocal leader, tough player (played through multple injuires), and a fan favorite, he even signed with rosenhouse (spelling?) I believe making it seem that he wants to stay here.

I cant say I would be anything less than EXTREMLEY Dissapointed if we dont keep smoot after next season. I really think thats a guy that we have to lock up.

I can't see that ever happening, there is no way we can jump into any part of the first rd. with a #2 next year and trotter, we are lucky to get a bag of ball's for trotter, the only way we get into the first high enough to grab Wilfork with a #2 next year, is to send smoot and another pick or a player depending, my thought is this take taylor, then deal into the bottom of the first and into the second as well with pick's from next year and gardner, We then can get either 2 D-linemen, or 1 lineman, and a TE/H-back, perhap's a stark's or dockett, and watson, troupe or peterson.

i agree 100%. i'd only trade smoot if we could get d'angelo hall or atleast dunta robinson. our 2nd next year and trotter and smoot might be enough to pull this trade off with someone like atlanta, the texans, or the lions who tried to get smoot the most last year. it might require another future pick though. i can't wait to see what suprises this weekend holds for us skins fans and i wouldn't put anything past the fo to possibly make a big splash.

I think trading Smoot would be foolish at this point. Springs has a nasty habit of getting hurt and then who would our #1 CB be? A rookie? Nah, we're pretty much forced to keep Smoot. Maybe we could put Gardner in his place in the above trade scenarios...

Unless we receive an incredible offer for Smoot I don't see the Skins dealing him. Especially with Bailey gone, Smoot became that much more valuable to the team.

I agree with Mattyk- We are too thin at corner to consider trading Smoot- Springs has an injury history, and no matter how good rookie corners are, they are still rookie corners. They're gonna get burned- it's just part of the growing process.
I'm torn betweent the Skins sitting tight and just taking one of the Canes (Taylor, KWII or Wilfork) or doing that and also making a draft day splash with a trade involving Trotter and Gardner (the only two players of value- ok Offiss- questionable value- who I think we can part with) to get another first round pick....

I am concerned that Dan "never met an offensive player I did not want to draft" Snyder and Bag o Doughnuts Cerrato signed Barrow to make drafting KWII look better. Now they can say they did not disregard the defense. Although this still leaves a big whole at the safety position if we draft KWII.
