I can't believe Danny boy and Gibbs got him to stay. Just this morning I figured he had the Rams or Chiefs job locked up because they both needed defensive coaches. Our defense has been awesome during this winning streak and he deserves a fat deal, especially if we can whup the Bucs with our depleted secondary. Yeah to the real G Dubs.
Essentially this changes the complexion of what current vacancies will be filled by the remaining candidates. And it could potentially drive up the bargaining power of top assistants around the league.

I think that some owners will definitely be pissed at Snyder for this move.

Re: Williams will stay....yyeeeeeaaaaaahhhh!

Wow this is such great news. I was really thinking he would seriously consider a coaching position but am glad I was wrong. We should have a great defense for years to come and hopefully GW will take over as the coach after Gibbs leaves (I think he thought of this and realized that if he waits three more years, we would gladly offer him the job).

Three cheers for consistency!!!

Now let's not try to make too many massive sweeping personnel changes on the offseason.

Time to gel baby!

WOW. You had to figure Gibbs and Sysnder would want to lock G-Dub up. You gotta love Synder's willingness to win at any cost, literally. In the early years he thought it was all about spending on players. It took Gibbs to teach him that it was about coaches and the RIGHT players. I always wondered how Synder could be so successful in his business endeavors but struggle so poorly as an owner. He has learned from his mistakes with losing Marvin Lewis. He has finally figured it out. Kudos Dan Synder!

Makes one wonder how long it will take for some of league's "thriftier" owners and small-market franchises to start calling for a salary cap for coaches!

Snyder is certainly taking advantage of his cashflow superiority in one of the few areas where that advantage can still be wielded. Good for him. Good for 'Skins fans. Not so good for the rest of league. :biggthump

Re: Williams will stay....yyeeeeeaaaaaahhhh!

Anyone catch Bugel on NBC4 news last night. He said, and I quote, "in 28 years of coaching, this is the most closely knit team he has ever been around. Everybody likes and respects everybody else. They have a great attitude. At this point of the season, its not about football X's and O's anymore, its about attitude."

I hope the line of scrimmage explodes on the first play (no matter whether we're offense or defense) and we knock some bodies around.

Other owners were already ticked with the deals Snyder gave Gibbs' staff last year. But now the sh!t should really hit the fan.

We all knew he was staying and he knew he was staying he just had to get a fatter check to add to it. Lets hope he learns more of the Gibbs Way before he takes over. And when he does we know that we will get the best coaches that money can buy.

This is great because if we have GW and Gibbs for a while we could be a superbowl caliber team for several years, I literally jumping with joy haha.

Re: Williams will stay....yyeeeeeaaaaaahhhh!

Say what you want about Dan Snyder, this is the kind of move he is known for. Granted, in the past he may have made some mistakes, I honestly beleive they were mistakes aiming to make the team better despite the fact some of them didn't work out. This is just the beginning of establishing something around here that's been missing for a long time. Thank you GW, I'm elated at your decision to remain with the team, and Mr. Snyder for recognizing it's importance. IM HAPPY!!!!!!

What a great way to start the New Year!!!!!!!! No distractions for Gibbs, GW or the team as we prepare to whip the Bucs! Say what you will about Snyder (and I'm no big fan of his), he does have deep, deep pockets. I knew he would come up with the dough (and more) to keep GW here.

Got to also believe there's a behind-the-scenes agreement that he takes over in another season or two. If true, he'd be a fool to consider anything else.

Re: Williams will stay....yyeeeeeaaaaaahhhh!

Weren’t Gregg Williams and Jeff Fischer disciples of Buddy Ryan in Houston? I thought I read somewhere that Williams’ defense is basically Ryan’s “46 Defense.”

Can anyone confirm this?

You are correct sir, GW's D hasn't fallen far from the 'Buddy Ryan 46 defense' tree.

Re: Williams will stay....yyeeeeeaaaaaahhhh!

This is truly awesome news.

Gibb's contract will expire at the same time that William's now-current one does, so he has definitely been promised the head coaching job. He gets to learn at Gibbs' and Bugel's feet and become a more well-rounded coach. He will definitely be more intense as the head coach some day than good 'ol Ritchie Pettitbone was.

Now I feel better about the teams future. Thanks Dan Snyder!

DAN snyder is turning shit around. Today is officially Greg Williams day but mr.Snyder gets tommorrow.
Snyder is finally building. Not building and tearing down. This is the first time in snyders career that he built something and finally has added to it.

I'm just so sick of the Snyder bashing is all. I mean, I can't imagine a better owner, seriously. Sure, he was high strung when he got here, and I know stadium parking is insanely expensive, but the guy spends on players and coaches, and gives the team the tools it needs to succeed. I wouldn't trade him for any other owner in the league.
