Schneed10, I guess you and I are "wanna-be" Clinton Portis' since we both are wearing our authentic jerseys.
Chalk me up for being a "wanna-be" Mark Brunell... |

Re: Wearing Your Redskins Gear?
I bought Champ Bailey a hot dog after a preseason game with the Steelers a couple of years ago. I was hammered, wearing my dad's old Dexter Manley jeresey and talking like an idiot. Good times...

Re: Wearing Your Redskins Gear?
Arrington has said that he loves seeing people wearing his #.
Personally I like wearing jerseys, I'm not trying to be a wannabe player or anything, I just like wearing jerseys. They're comfortable and I think they're cool. To each his own. Some people may think it's childish, I say oh well. To paraphrase the great John Riggins, loosen up Irish baby!! |

I can attest to this, only because I've heard the story a million times...from both him and his dad. Irish and the rest of you - to each his own. No need to argue what's right and wrong. We're all part of the game of life here. :food-smil I wear my jersey during games, and that's about it. I have a skins hat I wear frequently during the fall and winter, but other than that, I try to keep the jersey for game days. My PC, from time to time, will have Skins wallpaper, or my phone may sing Hail to the Redskins when someone calls me. It's all in what you do, not what the other guy does. |
Re: Wearing Your Redskins Gear?
I have my Redskins boxers on that my mom made for me, my dad and son. Just waiting for someone to ask me to "pull em out"!

Re: Wearing Your Redskins Gear?
I never said all players I only meant the one I was neighbors with (and then became friends) and some of his player buddies that would come by his house.
As for gear off the clock, my neighbor never did (or his buddies) and when I watch Pigging Out on Comcast or the Monday night show (also on Comcast)with Jansen and others, they dont have gear on either. I also dont see them wearing gear when being interviewed on the news heading home from the park in the evening. Small sample sizes I agree but facts nonetheless.
Actually right after we beat the Eagles, on Monday Night Live, Jansen broke out the playoff bound tshirts for himself, Springs, and Chick Hernandez. And he smiled the entire time he passed them out, I think that means he liked it.
A sense of pride about what?
Pride about Redskins football
Thats my point, I'm not trying to represent the team.
Then why are you here? |
Re: Wearing Your Redskins Gear?
Good point warpath.
The only jersey I have I bought 2 years ago when Champ Bailey was still on the team. *Sigh* How I long to be not so damn outdated. lol I'll trade a Bailey jersey for the Springs one anyone? Haha. But yeah, guess I'll sport the old Bailey tomorrow. |
Re: Wearing Your Redskins Gear?
You must think you are part of the team because you call it your team and you believe you represent it in some respect. Having been friends & neighbors with a few NFL players I can tell you how funny they think that kind of talk is. They think its hillarious.
Is that why half of the pro players sport throwback jersey's all the time? :pi_lightb Your the one that is hilarious Irish. You go on thinking your better then someone that likes to represent there team. Your must be so freeking cool Irish. :pimp: How do you live with all of us idiots in the world? ps. Who are these NFL player neighbors that your so chummy with anyway? :bs: I myself am sporting my Sunny Jergensen 69' white throwback and my red scripts R hat. I can't wait untill kick off! |
Re: Wearing Your Redskins Gear?
What I'm saying is that off the field the players dont wear that junk. If the people who are actually on the team wont wear that cr@p, then why would I?
Do you put on a helmit and shoulder pads when you watch the games? :pimp: |
Re: Wearing Your Redskins Gear?
I still pretend I'm whichever redskins jersey I'm wearing when I play football with the boys, is that so wrong? Sometimes I'm Brunell, sometimes I'm portis, sometimes I'm old school Allen/Taylor #21 I did it as a kid and I'll be damned if I'm gonna stop!

Re: Wearing Your Redskins Gear?
First let me start off by saying what we MUST say. Everyone has their opinions. My opinion is not better or worse than anyone else's opinion. This cannot be proved in any way because there is nothing to prove and this is just solid opinions so no one can be right or wrong.
------ Everyone wears shit from their favorite team. I don't think i am part of the team or that i am clinton portis right now. What about bands. People wear t-shirts from their favorite bands all the time. Chris Cooley does it everyday. I wear my jersey to represent the team. I don't wear it to be PART of the team but i am representing my like for them them. Not like i a representative of the team but i do represent my own likings. I like cooley he is my favorite player and that is why i want his jersey. I show that i am a redskin fan and it isn't pride. Its not like i am proud to be a skins fan. I could be a fan of anyone so i am not 'proud'. I do show it off to show that i like the skins. it tells people something about me. See him? he is a redskins fan. See that bitch over there?? he is a dallas fan. See that band wagon whore over there? he is a colts fan. People ask me will the skins win this week?? I say yes. Like SBF said people ask him on the street about the skins. It shows who you support. It is something about yourself. It adds color and a personality. everything you wear tells people who you are. being bland tells them nothing about you but wearing your favorite player's jersey tells people that they might have something in common with you or they might not. Cooley's band shirts tells people, hey i can talk to him about music when ever or me wearing a 24 shirt tells them that they can talk to me about the greatest show on television and wearing football shirts tells people they can talk shit about how the skins suck. In this sense irish you are saying it is pathetic to like the team also. do you only watch the game because you want to be there? Tell me why do you watch games?? why do you care if the skins win this week?? What is there in it for you?? DO you think it is funny that every sunday millions of people watch football? do you think it is ammusing that people care so much about the team to come to a site?? I think it is entertainment and that is why people watch. |
Re: Wearing Your Redskins Gear?
I am a fan but I dont see what one has to do with the other. Like I said, when actual team members wont "gear up" on the streets the only reason I can think non-team members would is to in some way pretend they are part of the team. I know I am not on the team and nothing I say or do matters one whit to the team so I'll dress like an adult instead of a wanna-be player.
I'm not a big name caller but you're an asshole. I doubt many of the real fans around here would like to put up with more bullshit asshole comments like that. Leave if you can't have the spirit of a real fan. And I don't care about all your player "friends". If you think that the majority of them don't appreciare the support that real fans show and how they show it then you obviously weren't "friends" with any real players. |
Re: Wearing Your Redskins Gear?
First you pick the Seahawks to win now you think Redskins gear is cr@p....who's side r u really on?....LMAO

Re: Wearing Your Redskins Gear?
I wish I had the money to dress like Portis does off the field. He's one smooth dude. He dresses like a Motown artist from the 60's Not 70's Roy Jefferson flashy pimp-style. More Marvin Gaye circa the 'What's Goin On' record.

As irish's unofficial agent, irish has released a statement to the previous post "wanna-be dag, and the players think you are a joke, in fact everyone is a joke except me, because I am too cool for team gear".

Re: Wearing Your Redskins Gear?
Throughout the football season I consciously wear Redskins apparel that compliments my mood. I'll sport the Riggins when I'm around my Redskins friends. Each weekend, another jersey. When you have been a fan for over 30 years you accumulate a lot of gear and I find the gear all over the place. I represent the Redskins every chance I get. Today I wore an authenic 34# jersey with my name sewn on the back. I made my predictions and called it a day. I'm geared up and ready.
