I thought Brooks restructured and is staying in New Orleans
I did a search on him and as of at least March 2, he had not renegotiated. He's still listed as prime trade bait for a West Coast offense. |

Re: Veteran QB to Replace Ramsey on Roster
My vote is for Collins.
He might not have proven much, but he is on the same page as Saunders, and that goes a long way in making the offense work. (Please no Spurrier comments, because we all know that offense was crap, and those QB's had been out of that system for a while. |
I'd say if Gus is out of Miami, bring him back. he will be relatively cheap, and he is serviceable. He helped miami, a horrible team, win a lot games towards the end of the year. He wont lose games if he is forced into action. And with our D, that is what we are going to need.
I still hate that guy. He would be booed here. |
Re: Veteran QB to Replace Ramsey on Roster
I wouldn't boo Gus. He's kind of a dope, but he never did anything hateworthy.

Up $10 million to $104 million. BTW, we should now be able to resume talks with other teams re: trading Ramsey. The CBA extension got us cap relief (along with the other 31 teams) and a draft pick (since without the extension we might have had to release Ramsey for no compensation). |

How many years are we giving cambell to take the starting job?

The real question is, "How many snaps will it take for him to LOSE the starting job?" |

Brooks puts up great numbers. The problem is that he has no real supporting cast. Joe Horn is a #2 at best anymore and Donte Stallworth has been a real disappointment. He is nearly always scrambling for his life and let's face it, when your two top running backs are Antowain Smith and Aaron Stecker, you have to accept that the defense is not going to respect your running game. With a little help, Brooks could win a starting job in another city. |
Re: Veteran QB to Replace Ramsey on Roster
I wouldn't mind Brian Griese but he'll probably be too expensive. What about Jay Fiedler? or Dave Ragone?
|
Re: Veteran QB to Replace Ramsey on Roster
You draft some bum to be the 3rd stringer. Campbell and Brunell will be 1 and 2, and I'm not even sure which one will be the starter. Unless you're talking minimum salary, I don't want a veteran for the #3 role.
I don't see Gibbs getting just anybody for that job. He will wanted a player that can jump in if Burnell gose down and Campbell is not ready. Also the 3rd string guy works out our D and that is also important! He will find the right guy for the right cost. As soon as Ramsey is traded and if he is I think you will see this to be one of the first moves Gibbs makes! |

That's what I've been saying. But according to John Clayton, Redskins gave Ramsey permission to speak to the Dolphins, Jets, and Lions. |

Lions could be the one as well. Many think a top qb will not be there when they pick 9th in april's draft. |

Would be ironic to see Harrington and Ramsey on the same team. Didn't we originally try to trade up for Harrington that year they were both drafted? I think Harrington needs a change of scenery, but maybe Martz can turn him around in Detroit. |

forget about brooks.makes hall of fame plays for three quarters and then does something that not even a high school qback would do.makes too many bonehead plays.collins is probably the one, knows the offense and fairly cheap

volek is gonig to make some decent cash whoever he signs with. hes got a cannon

Re: Veteran QB to Replace Ramsey on Roster
I see us signing someone along the lines of Ferrote, Fiedler, etc. and drafting a rookie for the practice squad. Given where this team is, if we go down to the 3rd QB, we need somebody who can step in and play at a (semi) professional level. I think this team in the upcoming year is looking to win big. Once we have Campbell fully ensconced as starter and a solid vet as number 2, THEN develop a young no. 3 guy.

Re: Veteran QB to Replace Ramsey on Roster
According to the most recent Fox article, it looks like Detroit and the Jets may fight over Ramsey.
This offseason is turning out to be great! The only thing that could derail it would be Taylor going to jail and I personally don't see that happening. |

Well hopefully not in this city. There #1 back is Deuce. Joe Horn a #2 ????? Lets just say the Redskins would not benefit from a player that openly critical of the team when it is facing adversity. Especially from a QB. I would rather have a player such as Ramsey who takes the high road and acts like a proffesional. This is why you can't entertain offers for Dante C to. |

Re: Veteran QB to Replace Ramsey on Roster
I'm not surprised to see Martz go after him. He also comes from the Air Coryell system and must think Ramsey will have less of a learning curve than Harrington. I would much rather see Patrick in Detroit than New York, mainly because all things New York sports make me sick.

Ramsey would feel right at home in a Martz offense. Wide open attack, little protection, QB takes a beating... sound familiar? |
